In a few months life is going to change for me drastically..hopefully it will be greater than I expect..am I nervous? of course...but I think to take such a step is a must..we all need to do things in life that are challenging otherwise there isn't a point in living...I have the kind of personality where I am always on the move..I cannot..I REPEAT..I CANNOT stand sitting at home and having nothing else to do..I wonder each day how people do this...Gone shopping CHECK...Ate my heart out CHECK...Spent hours talking on the phone CHECK....what else is there to do?
I know I've said this before but Kuwait can be boring sometimes and I guess the weather doesn't help..
There are NO JOBS here...especially with my major...it's getting tougher and tougher in Kuwait...makes me dream of wanting to escape...then again I know it won't be that easy living outside either...honestly...I respect the fact that in, say for example, the UK people work in a certain system...here...we have people who are too lazy to do their mundane job properly...thus we all suffer doing useless paper work that we didn't need to do in the first place if the people did their job...let not forget the unfairness of vitamin "W"...it seems that the only way to get a job is by "pulling some strings" or all of them!!...I know some people who have graduated after me who are now working...anyways I'm not complaining...I like to think of these months as a way to prepare me for the difficult life I'm about to begin...a7asiskum inny badish 7arb :P:P
I've realised that with time I started getting used to my life the way it is..everytime I complain I remember all my blessings then I shut up...it's normal to think like this (I think)...ironically I've become more patient and calm...
Let's see...running through my memory I have to say the past 10 years I've met sooooooo many people...but not many stuck...which is why I believe LIFE=CHANGE I accept this because I believe everything happens for the best..I morn for a while and eventually I move on...the memories are there...and each person left a part of themselves with me...which is why we are made of peices of a puzzle..each person we meet leaves a piece with us...
I don't think I hate anyone...we've all gotten hurt but I don't hold grudes...life is way too short...
So...this is me rambling about my thoughts which I haven't done for a long time!!
I don't even think anyone wud read this!! :P
I'll continue this later...you will understand everything soon ;)
Enjoy!

I have realised that I have a hard time making decisions whether it’s what to order or what to do. This bad habbit becomes a problem mostly when it comes down to life changing situations…sometimes once I decide on something…I re-evaluate and re-evaluate.. and I questions over and over and over…I get confused…it drives me CRAZY!!
You will know what I’m talking about sooon
Apart from that…I miss it over there…
I’m addicted to YouTube again…

One day you’ll realize..
“One day” is not a real day..
It doesn’t take a place in time..
It’s an illusion of a day..
Stop counting on the “One day”..
Just do it “Today”..

On Wednesday, BusinessWeek released their list of the top 25 angel investors in the tech industry, naming Hunch co-founder Chris Dixon ahead of veteran angels Ron Conway and Reid Hoffman. Conway and Hoffman are two of the most influential angels in tech, and have invested in some of the largest Internet companies known today, including Google , Facebook , Twitter and Digg . Dixon, a younger, less experienced investor than Conway and Hoffman, snagged the top spot due to both his diverse investment portfolio and the superior financial performance of his investments. Sponsor The list was curated in partnership between BusinessWeek and the startup tracker YouNoodle , which took a three pronged approach to ranking the tech angels. First they analyzed the growth of the angels’ investments based on the amount invested, the number of employees, and the number of “companies operating at valuations greater than $100 million, and the sale of any companies for more than $50 million.” Leadership was the next key factor which BusinessWeek and YouNoodle took into account. “The importance of each angel was measured by looking at the network of co-investments between angels, as well as at the ability to act as a bridge to other angel groups,” writes BusinessWeek’s Ira Sager. “From the perspective of an entrepreneur, the ability to attract other investors is critical.” Lastly, they compared each angel’s portfolio for diversity, which helped push Chris Dixon above his fellow angels. Dixon, an early investor in Skype , and his Hunch co-founder Caterina Fake (ranked 20th overall) hold the top two spots in terms of portfolio diversity. Despite being ranked 11th in terms of influence, Dixon was crowned the king of the angels thanks in no small part to the range of industries he has invested in; however the overall success of his investments seems to have played the largest role. The financial performance category seems to have been given the most weight by BusinessWeek and YouNoodle. The top seven angels also fall within the top eight best financial performers; Paul Graham (No. 11 overall) is the outlier here, ranking seventh in terms of financial performance. The category with the least weight seems to be portfolio diversity, as Conway and Hoffman achieved their high ranks despite placing 12th and 24th respectively in diversity. Their cause was undoubtedly helped by their 1st and 3rd place finishes in terms of influence. In fourth place overall is Esther Dyson, an investor in Delicious and Meetup , and behind her is Peter Thiel, who helped Yelp and Zynga get off the ground. Rounding out the top 10 is Marc Andreessen, Jeff Bezos, Chris Sacca, Mike Maples and Andy Bechtolsheim. Y Combinator’s Paul Graham found the #11 spot, Digg’s Kevin Rose came in at #15, Naval Ravikant is #22, and Google’s own Eric Schmidt is #24. What are your thoughts on BusinessWeek’s list? Do you think the measuring sticks they used to rank the angels are fair? Or would you use different metrics to determine the best of the best? Let us know what you think in the comments. Discuss

On March 15, at the prestigious Paley Center in New York City, a conversation will take place between Chinese digital activist and artist Ai Weiwei , Twitter co-founder and chairman Jack Dorsey , and yours truly Richard MacManus (ReadWriteWeb founder and editor in chief). The moderator will be Orville Schell , the director of the Center on U.S.-China Relations at the Asia Society in New York. The topic of the event is the emergence of digital activism for fostering positive social change. The onsite event is invitation only, but it will be live streamed exclusively on ReadWriteWeb on Monday, March 15, at 6:30 PM EST, from the Paley Center for Media, New York City. Sponsor The Central Question of the event is: what is the relevance of new social networking technologies in our culture and society; and how can we use these tools for digital activism in order to foster positive social change, particularly in China? You can start the discussion about it now on Twitter, using the hashtag #aiweiwei . We would also love to hear your thoughts on the topic via the comments here on ReadWriteWeb. To this end, shortly we will launch a special webpage that aggregates media and real-time conversation leading up to this event. Ai Weiwei and Digital Activism in China ReadWriteWeb has been actively covering events in China this year, in particular Google’s struggle to effect change regarding censorship in China. So I’m personally thrilled to join the conversation with these 3 smart and influential people: Ai Weiwei, Jack Dorsey and Orville Schell. Ai Weiwei is undoubtedly the star attraction. He is China’s leading digital activist and a pioneer in the use of blogging and Twitter in China. He’s also a renown international artist and architect. In the early 2000s, he collaborated with Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron on the famous “Bird’s Nest” design of the National Stadium for the Beijing Olympics. Ai Weiwei later renounced that design as a “pretend smile” from the Chinese government. Here is a video that explains more about Ai Weiwei’s art and digital activism: Further Details About the Event This historic event will be streamed live from the prestigious Paley Center for Media in New York City, enabling an audience of thousands around the world to view and listen – as well as participate in the discussion. The live conversation on stage will be shaped in part by the digital commentary around it, which itself is part of the ongoing global conversation about social media and social change. ReadWriteWeb is driving much of the online component of this event. Stay tuned for more details on that next week. Date: Monday, March 15, 2010 Time: 6:30 – 8 p.m. (Eastern Time) Venue: Paley Center for Media 25 E. 52nd Street New York, NY 10019-6129 Details About the Participants This information comes from the Paley Center website : Ai Weiwei is a conceptual artist, curator, architect, social commentator, and activist. He was born in 1957 into the domestic political exile of his father, the noted modernist poet Ai Qing. Ai Weiwei’s birthright was simultaneously one of a cultural insider and a political outsider, and he quickly perceived the contradictions of his condition. Ai Weiwei’s art has been shown in museums and galleries internationally. As a curator, he is known for cutting-edge exhibitions. In the early 2000s, he collaborated with the acclaimed Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron on the winning design for the National Stadium project for the Beijing Olympics, popularly known as the “Birds Nest,” which he later renounced as a “pretend smile.” Ai Weiwei has never sought foreign citizenship and maintains his credibility among a devoted Chinese following as a highly active blogger, with his finger on the pulse of modern China. Unafraid to spotlight injustices, he has documented the arbitrary conviction and swift execution of alleged cop-killer Yang Jia in Shanghai, investigated shoddy school construction in Sichuan, and led a movement to oppose the nationwide installation of Internet filtering software in new computers. He is critical of one-party rule and government corruption, as well as the nationalist tendencies of China’s citizenry, which allow state power to go unchecked. As a result his blogs are shut down, his home studio is under surveillance, and he’s had to have cranial surgery for injuries sustained during a recent altercation with local police in Sichuan. Jack Dorsey is the creator, cofounder, and chairman of Twitter, Inc. Originally from St. Louis, Jack’s early fascination for mass-transit and how cities function led him to Manhattan and programming real-time messaging systems for couriers, taxis, and emergency vehicles. Throughout this work Jack witnessed thousands of workers in the field constantly updating where they were and what they were doing; Twitter is a constrained simplification designed for general usage and extended by the millions of people who make it their own every day. Jack is dedicated to creating public goods which foster approachability, immediacy, and transparency, and is starting a second company named Square focused on bringing these concepts to commerce. Richard MacManus is the founder and editor in chief of ReadWriteWeb, one of the most popular and influential technology blogs in the world. New Zealander MacManus founded ReadWriteWeb in 2003 and grew his blog about the evolving Internet into an international team of journalists. ReadWriteWeb is read by millions of thought leaders and consumers, and is syndicated daily by the New York Times. From the early days of blogging, social networks and YouTube to the future of machine learning, aggregate data analysis and other meta-trends, MacManus is widely recognized as a leader in articulating what’s next in technology and what it means for society at large. Orville Schell is the director of the Center on U.S.-China Relations at the Asia Society in New York. He has written fourteen books, including nine on China, and is at work on an interpretation of the last one-hundred years of Chinese history. He was a Fellow at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and the recipient of many prizes and fellowships, including a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Overseas Press Club Award, and the Harvard-Stanford Shorenstein Prize in Asian Journalism. Prior to assuming his position at Asia Society, he served as Dean of the Graduate School of Journalism at the University of California, Berkeley. Discuss

Due to Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) complaints filed by Microsoft, whistleblower website Cryptome [link to a backup version of the site] has been disabled by its ISP, Network Solutions. The complaints were due to the fact that Cryptome published a 22-page Microsoft Global Criminal Spy Guide. Microsoft claimed copyright infringement, Cryptome’s editor refused to budge, and the site was taken down this afternoon. Cryptome has previously published similar guides from Facebook, AOL, Yahoo and Skype; the site has been threatened but never before actually disabled. Sponsor The Microsoft document was originally published on Feb. 20. Microsoft demanded that Cryptome remove the PDF, and when the editor refused, Cryptome’s ISP sent a warning: If the document was not removed by Thursday, the site would be disabled. However, the site was taken down Wednesday afternoon. The reason Cryptome refused to remove the PDF of Microsoft’s so-called “spy guide” was that editor John Young believed its programs, which make it easier for law enforcement to obtain user data, showed “improper use of copyright to conceal violations of trust toward its customers,” according to an interview with Geekosystem. “Copyright law is not intended for confidentiality purposes,” he continued. “We think all lawful spying arrangements should be made public Microsoft should join the others who openly describe [their] procedures.” Young named Cisco as one such company. Cindy Cohn of the Electronic Frontier Foundation said in a call today, “We find it troubling that copyright law is being invoked here. Microsoft doesn’t sell this manual. There’s no market for this work. It’s not a copyright issue. John’s copying of it is fair use. We don’t do this anywhere else in speech law.” For example, in cases involving libel or trade secrets, said Cohn, “You go to court, you make a case and you get an injunction. You don’t just file a form. DMCA makes censorship easy.” Cohn also noted she feels the reason Microsoft actually wants the document removed from the Web is because, for a large corporation with millions of users and an aggressive PR agenda, the document raises concerns and sparks conversations the company would rather not confront. “It’s part of a very intense political debate about the role of intermediary companies like Microsoft aiding surveillance for law enforcement. It’s embarrassing for Microsoft for their users to see how much the people who carry their email have arrangements with law enforcement. “All of the people who carry our communications are an easy conduit for our government to spy on us, and a lot of people are unhappy about that. It’s a legitimate public debate, and Microsoft doesn’t want to be part of that debate.” We hope that Microsoft does, in fact, release their stranglehold on Young and his site and take part in a conversation with their users about how their data can be accessed by others, including law enforcement. We’ve reached out to them for comment and will update this post if and when we hear back. In the meantime, let us know your thoughts in the comments. UPDATE: Still no word from Microsoft, but here’s that document they really don’t want you (or anyone else) to see. We hope to hear from a Microsoft representative soon to discuss the intentions and implications of this guide. Thanks to Glenn Davis of Geekosystem for the tip. Discuss

U.S. authorities have tracked down the hacker who wrote the code behind the attacks on Google last month. The man is a freelance security consultant with ties to the Chinese government and military. The Chinese government had access to his work, although the man stated he “would rather not have uniformed guys looking over his shoulder, but there is no way anyone of his skill level can get away from that kind of thing,” according to one analyst. This development makes it even more difficult for the Chinese government to deny involvement in the attacks. Sponsor The hacker, if he can even be called such, posted bits of his code to a hacking forum as a work in progress. Although this man did write the code, which exploited a security loophole in IE6, he does not work full-time for the government. He didn’t launch the attacks himself, and the U.S. cybersecurity team that tracked him down said that he didn’t want his work to be used for attacks of this nature and magnitude. The spyware’s launch was traced to computers at Shanghai Jiaotong University and Lanxiang Vocational School, the first of which counts former government cybersecurity experts among its staff. Both institutions have denied involvement in the attacks. As U.S. officials continue their investigation, cybersecurity folks and others familiar with the situation wonder at how this series of attacks positions China in the international sphere. Does this news signal the beginning of a new East v. West cold war? Let us know your thoughts in the comments. Discuss

Cisco is betting heavily on the network as the platform. We took a look at the role of the network in the emerging landscape of cloud computing as part one of analysis of ” Will One Company be Dominant in Cloud Computing “. We started with Cisco, since the cloud implies the network to float upon. Like religion itself, Cisco is a company that evokes deep emotions. Many IT leaders believe in Cisco and bet their operations on the company. And to unbelievers, using Cisco gear is one of the deadly sins. Sponsor Following that analogy, on the first day, there was IP. And the Internet was formed. And on the second day there was virtualization, and the virtual machine was born. On day three there was pay-as-you-go computing, and Amazon released EC2. On day four, the iPhone was released. And there was rejoicing. We’re not sure yet what will happen on days five and six – but on the seventh day, there was a globally interconnected cloud, powered by the Internet, IP, and more than likely, Cisco gear. In Cisco’s prophecy, this leads to The Human Network . Cloud Computing is the Next Version of the Internet Cisco enjoyed massive benefits in the first phase of the Internet in the late 1990s. Its gear powered the Internet, and the market rewarded the company for its leadership. Cisco’s business was built by the enterprise and their huge appetites for interconnected networks to connect companies and power Web applications. To diversify and expand its opportunities in the late 1990s, Cisco made big bets in the service provider and SMB marketplace. In the service provider space, Cisco drove combining voice, data, and video networks. In SMB, Cisco entered into the commodity space with Wi-Fi and lower-end products. These have paid off and have positioned the company to be ready for the next phase of the Internet. Charting Cisco’s performance from its first day on NASDAQ 20 years ago to today shows a massive spike in its stock price during the rise of the Internet. In the next phase, we’re seeing a repeat opportunity for Cisco to assist in the disruption of the datacenter in the move to virtual data centers and private clouds. At the same time, the company is going further in the hottest area of the service provider opportunity to the core of mobile computing. We wonder, will the market see another spike in Cisco as cloud computing goes mainstream? IP Everywhere – Networking is the Platform Cisco has invested in several trends that will define the next generation of the network. The network is a complex thing. If anything, the opportunity for Cisco is also the risk. Can it manage these complex infrastructures and prove that it is the one company that can bring it all together? First, working closely with VMware , Cisco has defined the virtual data center. The virtual data center is one with an aware unified fabric . Cisco’s Nexus switches bridge storage, virtual instances and network. To get a high performing distributed virtualized data center, it is important to have all servers on a switched network, deployed as the same Layer 2 VLAN. This means extending VLANS over Layer 3 routed networks. To do this, Cisco has brought a new data center interconnect solution called Cisco Overlay Transport Virtualization (OTV), which has the goal of providing the performance of Layer 2 while still preserving most of the scalability, resiliency, multipathing, and failure-isolation characteristics of a Layer 3 connection. “OTV can be thought of as MAC-address routing, in which destinations are MAC addresses, and next hops are IP addresses. OTV simply maps MAC address destinations to IP next hops that are reachable through the network cloud. Traffic destined for a particular MAC address is encapsulated in IP and carried through the IP cloud to its MAC-address routing next hop. The rich information in the MAC-address routing protocol enables Layer 2 con- nectivity over Layer 3 networks based on MAC-address destinations.” The second major area of innovation Cisco is making news in right now is the mobile core. Cisco announced in December 2009 that it has finished the acquistion of Starent Networks for over $1billion this year. The combined Starent-Cisco puts the company in a key leadership position in routing mobile data, delivering an end-to-end mobile multimedia IP architecture for the mobile operator packet core. Cisco sees the Internet of Things coming, and connecting mobile operations with virtualization is a part of making it all hapen. Virtualization and mobile coming together – two major trends that will form the future of cloud computing. This week, Cisco CEO and board chairman John Chambers shared his thoughts at Mobile World Congress on the value Cisco is bringing to the service provider. As the Next Generation Emerges, the Stakes are High On one hand, there is a joining that’s happening where we see Cisco, EMC and VMware partnered in a significant way. The announcement in November 2009 describes a vision where the companies offer enterprises a coordinated set of solutions. These solutions cover the core three tiers of computing: OS, storage, and network. But on the other hand, HP and Cisco are parting ways. Even in the best of times, this relationship was a bit strained as Cisco and HP have been both competing and cooperating over the last few years. The companies signed a global partner agreement. But Cisco competes with HP in unified computing, and HP has introduced the ProCurve line of network devices and purchased 3Com. Now Cisco has decided to pull HP out of its partner program . HP seems to be the one company (outside of its network compeitors) that wants to challenge Cisco’s destiny. Does cloud computing give Cisco a second chance to outperform the world as a dominant vendor? What are your hopes or fears of a Cisco-powered cloud computing fabric? Photo credit: rebeauty Discuss

The question is..is it worth it?...I got to say I've been craving for it since Thursday :P so it's a must try for the sake of "I tried Pinkberry" and it tastes like yogurt so yeah it's worth it :D
I guess it's the new thing in right now...but go see the design it's cool and chill there when you buy the HEALTHY FROZEN YOGURT

Think about the now..
