One of my favorite shows before getting canceled was the HBO series Lucky Louie. It was an extremely funny adult targeted comedy that was dirty, vulgar, and just extremely hilarious. I loved it. Sadly the show got canceled for some odd reason but Louie is now back on a different network called FX with his own show again. This time the show is just called Louie and it’s even funnier than Lucky Louie. There are a lot of comedian guest stars on the show including in one episode Ricky Gervais who plays his doctor friend. He’s even got Seinfeld style stand up at the start of the show plus at different points through out the episodes. It’s very cool and it’s now one of my favorite shows easily. Young Imam is a popular reality TV show in Malaysia where the winner of the show wins a car, a scholarship to study in Saudi Arabia, some cash, a pilgrimage to Mecca and gets to be an Imam of a mosque. It’s such a smart idea and it seems to be working really well in attracting younger people back into religion. My dad yesterday had trouble viewing the World Cup opening match so he went down to Hawalli to get some help from one of the Satellite shops and to his amazement the whole area was flooded with cars and people. It seems he wasn’t the only one facing problems, majority of the people were having the exact same issue so everyone headed to Hawalli at the same time to find out what was wrong with their receiver. Turns out the Al Jazeera World Cup broadcast was sabotaged. Someone was blocking the signals and Al Jazeera are pissed and are vowing to catch the culprits behind the jam.

“We do not know yet who is behind the interference, but we will go after whoever has caused this terrible act that has deprived millions in the Arab world from watching the start of the World Cup,” said Nasser Al Khalifi, the chairman of Al Jazeera Sports.

“We are shocked by what happened because the World Cup is not a political programme that someone wants to block. It is a global sports event and we had spent months negotiating with Fifa to enable viewers in the Arab world to enjoy some matches for free. Unfortunately, there are some people who have political motives, but we will go after them,” he said.

If you haven’t subscribed to the World Cup package don’t worry, you will still be able to watch the opening ceremony, the first match and the final game of the tournament for free.

All rights holders will have to air the opening ceremony, the first match on June 11 (South Africa v Mexico) and the final on July 11 free. That’s part of an agreement with FIFA, but Al Jazeera Sport may go a step further and telecast for free the semi-finals as well.

I haven’t subscribed to the World Cup package simply because I am at work from 9 to 7 on a good day and then I’ve got gym afterward so by the time I am home in front of the TV I would have other things I would prefer to do. Anyway here is the link to the [Article]

My ear infection has died down, however, I’ve developed a throat infection. What does this mean? It just means I’m going to be seeing more of my room, and staying in bed longer. I miss my job. Have I mentioned that I miss my job?! On another note, I just finished watching the latest episode of The Big Bang Theory, and I now have to wait till November 3rd to watch the next one. Oh, and I’ve developed a ginormous crush on Sheldon; I guess I have a thing for men who talk nerdy. Or maybe it’s my medication speaking…

Either way. I feel totally an utterly useless right now.

T’is the season to be sick and poorly. I hate the weather right now, and with the H1N1 scare, being sick isn’t exactly very comforting. But hey, when the hell was being sick ever comforting?! Anyway, my throat’s inflamed, it hurts, it hurts, and did I mention it hurts? Well yeah, it hurts. I went to the doctor, and turns out I’ve got an ear infection. Oh joy. I haven’t been able to leave the house for the last two days, and I won’t be able to for another three. And again, oh joy.

However, in my self-imposed quarantine (I’m selfless like that), I’ve found that The Big Bang Theory is one of the funniest shows I’ve ever come across. EVER. My friends recommended it because “the characters speak just like” I do – in the sense that I use big words, and I tend to explain the history of things sometimes. Err, wait…how is this a good thing? Either way, I’m truly enjoying the show, and I love, love, love Sheldon!

For those of you unfamiliar with the show, here’s a clip (perfectly suited with me being ill – ha!):

In other time-wasting news, I also watched Vicky Christina Barcelona. I liked it, but I’m not sure how I feel about it. The triangles, cylinders, squares, octagons, and pentagons of relationships boggled my mind; especially in the current state I’m in.

Okay, I’m starting to get too tired to type.

Last week breezed by – or I guess it did. The problem with my life is that it has turned to be so systematic and monotonous that once things are done it marks the end of the day. In other words, I have everything planned out from A-Z; the element of surprise or spontaneity is no more.

On a lighter note, I watched the entire first season of Nip/Tuck last night – yeah, yeah, I know I’m a million years too late. And seriously, wow! Is that show graphic or what?! Any passing thought of getting a nose job has gone fleeting out the window. How the hell are people addicted to plastic surgery? It’s bloody painful! One is practically ripped apart then stitched back together again. Who in their right mind want to be put through that torture?! With that being said, I’m in dire need of seasons 2-6 of Nip/Tuck.

Oh, and I’m also obsessed with Lady GaGa.
