My friend Alia wanted to have a brunch at her house, and she was out of time and ideas so I suggested she get stuff such as muffins, bread loafs, sandwiches…etc from Baking Tray. I did not specify anything except for the cookies. She went ahead and did the order – Next day she tells me about Baking Tray Date Muffin! I have never tried this muffin, but kept day dreaming about it in the office all morning till I decided I have to give it a shot… and I did
– THANK YOU ALIA!! I am now going almost daily just to get this muffin!! LOL – I blame you and thank you at the same time

Let me tell you something about me.. I am more of a cookie person than I am for muffins & cakes, I actually am a SUCKER FOR COOKIES that I have been nicknamed “Cookie Monster” since a very young age hehehe. This muffin is another story now!! Another thing about me is that I have always hated dates and anything with dates. My dad tried so hard throughput the years to make me love it but only manged to few years ago! Why did I hated dates without even trying them? They are SO GOOD!!! So good that I feel sorry I hated’em all those years… now back to the subject – Baking Tray Date Muffins….
They are fabulous! Golden brown in color, topped with some actual date shred, and with date rich content. I usually eat muffin tops but I eat this whole sucker! It became my daily snack at work! Hell yeah, I packed some for home because I kept talking about it and my sister wanted to try some – she also -not a cake person- fell in love with’em!

Still soft and yummy the next morning!

They are dangerously addictive!!
Baking Tray is located in Burj Mishaal in Sharq and their tel # is 22251544 (Map)

So yeah.. I finally got to try the MUCH talked about burger in Le Cafe of Fauchon in 360 Mall

I ordered a pink lemonade -as suggested by our waiter- to go along with it
I liked their pink lemonade… so refreshing, specially in this weather

So both my friend and I order Le Beef Burger… I had mine cooked medium

And although I have specifically asked them not to cut it in half… it came this way

Taste? I expected it to be much better, not that it was bad or anything… as a matter of fact it was “kinda” good, but people kept raving about it so much, you know what I mean? Its just as Mark described it in his detailed review, hotel/room service quality
I would say… a five star hotel quality kinda burger
Yes its big, yes its juicy… but there was something off about the flavorings/spices used!! hmmmmm!!
Will I go again? Most probably yeah
The atmosphere and service are great… the food is good, and the dessert I had was SO GOOD!

I forgot the name, but I picked the one in the glass bowl… Its brownie topped with some yummy white thing and on top of which is cornflakes mixed with chocolate (high quality chocolate) and shreds of gold! I loved it
My friend had the eclaire and she loved it as well
Our bill total was around KD20 (two burgers, two drinks, and desserts)

The owner of In Town Cafe invited me over to try one of their new creations, the Sushi Pizza! Right after work I dropped by to give it a try
He made me two pizzas, a regular round one, and a Chicago squares’ cut! The crust? Well hmmm its made of rice
Here is the Seafood Sushi Pizza

And the below is the Veggies Sushi Pizza

Interesting taste
I took a slice of the seafood one, but two squares of the veggies! Creative work, I like

Three days and two nights were over so soon. It was so much fun, but it was time to go back home to Kuwait

Oh don’t fall for this one below… its all acting
I promise hehehehe

While waiting at our gate, we sat back and relax… talked about the trip in general, got to know more about the students and what they do -which I am planning to post about sometime in the future- and had so much munchies to munch on… Baskin Robbins, Garrett Popcorn, McDonald’s… everyone was eating something… I decided that I wanted to wait till I get to Kuwait but Protege AlMunaikh gave me this bag

Its a Pappa Roti bun - Singaporean if I am not mistaken

Its so light and so yummy… coated with special spices -sweet ones- from the outside and fluffy buttered bread from the inside – Total delight
I love sweet and salt combo so much hehehehe! Thank you Protege AlMunaikh
And buhbye Dubai

The trip wrap up:

While in Dubai Mall, I dropped by Alison Nelsen’s Chocolaye Bar for dessert with a couple of my friends.

We just had light lunch at
Armani Cafe and spotted it on the upper floor of the mall when we decided to have dessert there

Very shabby chic feel to it
We browsed through the menu and picked out three desserts

We ordered red velvet cupcake, chocolate fondue, and spicy brownie with vanilla ice cream (can you guess my order?
)

The cupcake itself was too buttery from the inside and too sugary in the icing (which was dripping from one side), but it wasnt bad – Just okay!

Chocolate Fondue was impressively presented specially when I kept comparing it to Chocolate Bar – Kuwait… you know what I mean?

The spicy brownie wasnt really spicy in the beginning, I felt the spiciness after few bites in my throat… it was such a tingly nice feeling though
Overall, the atmosphere is very chic and it over looks some cafes down (Armani and Fauchon) with so much sunlight in. It was nice… but I somehow felt their menu is limited and that they can do much better with presentation

While in Dubai, we stayed at The Westin Hotel Mina AlSeyahi Beach Resort & Marina.

The hotel service, facilities, food, staff, and atmosphere were all good! Its perfect for families actually!
My room was connected to three students of the Proteges. Theirs had different setting and I did not take pictures there, but managed to take pictures of my room

Very comfy

There isnt much to do for kids, as one of the mothers in the trip mentioned, but its okay overall
I would not mind staying there again at all!

One of the “not-so-new-and-hip” restaurants that NEVER gets old is Casper & Gambini’s! Now if you’ve been reading my blog for long time you must have noticed how much customer experience, presentation, and attitude makes up for the whole review when it comes to me!

The place is always super clean and super calming! The colors they used are not overwhelming and you sense lots of white and purity! The staff are very attentive and smiley! I specially like The Dhow and Ahmed AlJaber branches now, specially after the constructions near the Sheraton roundabout, cuz their branch there was my all time favorite!
Anyways… I met with my sister and friend for coffee/tea break few days ago. I ordered green tea while my sister and friend ordered hot coco and espresso. Now here is the presentation… simple and neat

Not to mention the high quality products used for their food/drinks

For delivery/catering, call 2243-0056+ Their menu is available on 6alabat.

I went to Enjoy again and wanted to update you all of the new dishes I tried there! For appetizers, we ordered Chicken Rocks and Crispy Shrimps

Both were so good! The chicken is spiced in a very unique way… I could not tell if it was ginger or something else! They tasted so good.
This time I went ahead and ordered the Back Yard burger, not bad at all… the beef patty is juicy, and their buns changed since the last time I was there (link), though I prefer the Swiss Mushroom to this one

I really wanna try more and more of their dishes, but I have been into burgers lately… ever since I have decided to start a diet, burgers would cross my mind ALL the time… every friggin minute hahaha and they are so worth it!
Anyways… here is Enjoy’s map

Enjoy is located in Salmiya next to Marina Residence and Marina Mall, and their Tel # is 2573-7573 | 2573-9573

I wanted to review this spot ever since it got a grand revamp from the ground up. That includes, a brand new menu, new name, new location, new services, new website, NEW EVERYTHING !
This post is divided into two. My review and a HOW TO video by Oishii Sushi’s chef, Erick.
Before I get on with the review, I just want to thank the kind owners for letting me barge in with my cam, asking all kinds of questions, letting me sit where the chef and crew hang and for all the fun I had, THANK YOU.
Review:
Went with the boys just to try the Oishii Sushi burger, only that, nothing else, boy was I wrong. I reached there, found one of the owners, Mr.Hamoud, waiting for us with loads and loads of goodies, now you know I had to forget my carb count and do the monkey walk, right ? Cuz thats exactly what I and everybody else should do when they see what I saw. Lots of things were presented, however, I will only highlight the things I loved.
He asked me what it is I like, I said anything without SEA WEED. Fans of japanese food are giving me the look, i know you are, but I just cant eat it, there’s something about it that reminds me of snakes so I don’t go near it.
I thought if I exclude sea weed, I would be left with little options, specially for a new spot in town. Wrong again, aside from noodles, rice and other appetizers, check what we got, move your cursor around’em to check the names:

The owner asked the wonderful staff to set everything upon my wishes, I felt like a king. This may be off topic but the generosity we all experienced was just amazing and beyond our expectations.
The salads were perfection, my friends loved the one with shrimps, I went crazy over the shrimp popcorn, LOVED IT – Ordered one more just for me me me me. Think of sharing and i’ll slice you in half!
MAKI

Listen, see how beautiful these Makis are ? They taste even better. My favorites are Manhattan, Fuji and Oishii Maki.
Why do I like’em ?
No “zifar”, no seaweed, not heavy. Extremely delicate, very light, excellent size and perfect sauce, components, wraps and temperature. I LOVED IT I LOVED IT I LOVED IT and I also did the “LAWWWD HAVE MERCY” Pose.
Special highlight “Strange but ZEXY”:

I first saw the mini burger all over the net and thought, hmmm, thats a strange looking dish but imma try it anyway.

We had these baby/mini/junior/baby making sushi burgers – I wont tell you what happened to us but we just gave the owner the innocent look. He said ” hmm ? another one ?” and BABY he did !! YAAAAAY !!

Maybe the only comment I have thats considered “shady” is how big/wide/huge I had to open my mouth up to eat this. However, I do the one bite trick so you delicate creatures may not have a problem what so ever, HAH! Im a bit un-gentle when it comes to food.

Tortilla’s case is different, I munched on it like a fool when my eyes first encountered that fine tender thing laying there, OHHHHHH !!! all I can say is ” I ate 3 pieces without a pause” this is sooooooooooo GOOD, Pizza like.
Oh but I must warn you, you wont be doing this, you know, the Naomi Campbell walk, you wont, you cant, you’ll crawl after that:
Click here to view the embedded video.
Oishii Sushi Burger and the TORTILLA, do not talk or even look my way if you don’t order these two. DELICIOUS & LIGHT !
My girl, Ansam, tried it, check out here raving review HERE.

I thought I should give you guys a look on how makis are made excluding the zexy secret ingredients, just the exterior look so you guys may or may not be inspired to do your own at home.
Trust me, what this guy fed me kept me doing a pregnant woman walk, his delicacies were not heavy, but Im a tornado, when I like something I eat it up till I cant walk no more.
THE TEAM:

Chef Erick, Miss Flora and Rony. I love you all, but Miss Flora, you own my heart, I love you to pieces.
Abdullah’s observations:
* All the equipments were top notch, brand wise.
* Cleanliness is my number one priority, im a satisfied customer.
* Knowledge, everything I asked the chef was answered with an optional elaborate answer. That felt great.
* The spot may be tiny but we were a total of 5 big boys sitting by the bar comfortably. Still, I highly suggest the delivery service.
* Prices are convenient.
* Saw a special diet menu with lots of varieties, check it out on their website.

Last night I had dinner at the newly soft opened restaurant, Enjoy – a small cozy restaurants in Salmiya!

The place is inviting! There is a seating outside with a glass fountain wall, and the inside is really hip and cool, funky kinda cool. Glossy blackboard on the wall with black lit floor with spot lights, purple wall with soft dimmed lights of orange, blue, and white! An open kitchen with wok stove overlooks the restaurant.

We were handed the menus (which I will be scanning and sending to Q8PD soon
). They offer a wide range of food items to choose from; appetizers/sides, salads, soups, burgers (10 kinds), noodles/rice, house specialities (Chinese/oriental), desserts, milk shakes (8 kinds), lemonades (7 kinds), and hot/cold beverages!

We opted for three appetizers; Shrimp Tempura, Vegetable Spring Rolls, and Boneless Chicken wings

Now where do I begin? I was extremely satisfied with all three dishes! the boneless chicken wings were absolutely fabulous! A very delicious taste paired with a side of celery sticks and dipping sauce for both! The chicken was tender and the buffalo sauce was spiced about right (I’m not the judge of spiciness). The spring rolls order comes in 8 pieces, the size of which is somewhat small -something I liked- and is a accompanied with somewhat sweet chili sauce. Now the shrimp tempura was another story! They were light and not greasy.. the batter was really light and fluffy, and it was not served with your usual tempura sauce! The order comes in with a sweet tangy sauce! I liked it… correction, I LOVED it!
The night kept getting better and better… specially when the burgers were served! Now you can order the burgers mini, regular, or as a meal. The meal is served with one regular burger or three minis + french fries + soft drink. We ordered ours all in regular size, my sister had hers with french fries.
Here is the Caesars Chicken burger; crispy chicken breast, cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, tomato, and Caesar sauce

It was rated as really good by my friend who had it… and below is my sister’s order; the House Burger meal which consist of juicy beef patty, melted jack cheese, lettuce, caramelized onion, and special house sauce with a side of french fries of course

She loved it… she said it was really really good… And my order – below, Swiss Mushroom burger – totally divine!!!!!! Its made of juicy beef parry, melted Swiss cheese, grilled mushrooms and onions, lettuce, and mushroom sauce.

Now I cant really talk about their orders in details… but I can talk about mine, right?
To begin with, Swiss Mushroom burger in general is something I love and like to order in different restaurants! This one hit the spot just right, specially that I broke my diet for this fabulous dinner! I can easily say that this was the best Swiss Mushroom burger I had in Kuwait for all the following factors: the size of the burger/bun is not small and not big. I can categorize it as a gourmet burger for that the ingredients used complimented one another really well, and the burger was really rich and juicy (I do not usually have Swiss mushroom burgers with lettuce, but this one came with butter lettuce, which I did not mind at all). The buns were not the Kuwait Mills kinda buns, they were freshly made from a bakery… that was obvious and a very nice move!
Moving on… this is a picture of my peachy lemonade

A bit on the sweet side, I may ask for less syrup next time I order from Enjoy. And The Berry Delight; a mix of blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries… topped with hot white chocolate sauce… perfect with coffee

Although still in soft opening, I am highly recommending this new cozy restaurant for you. While there, few people came in for pick-up orders. I also them preparing orders for delivery (If I am not mistaken they deliver to Salmiya, Jabriya, and Surra for now – but you can always call and check if they deliver to your area). It is also worth mentioning that not only the food was great, but so was the service and price! Our bill came to a total of around KD14-15! Nice

Enjoy is located in Salmiya next to Marina Residence and Marina Mall, and their Tel # is 2573-7573 | 2573-9573

Live, love, eat & Enjoy! Noodles & More… another spot that hit the spot for me

With my sushi burger fever, I heard In Town Cafe – a new cafe opened in Kuwait City- is offering two kinds, beef burger sushi and chicken burger sushi. So I headed there after work.

The cafe is located in Al Saqran Mall in Al Mubarakiya area, right next to Gulf Bank. As I entered the cafe, the owner was there and he was very nice and very friendly! I was in for the beef sushi burger but he insisted that I try other dishes! I browsed their menu while he suggested some dishes, I was like sure… I will trust your judgment. He ordered In Town Roll, fried shrimp, fresh mango, and mango sauce.

The shrimp-mango combo was interestingly fine! I guess for shrimp, it takes a mango to tango
If you know what I mean

And about that sushi burger….

Soy sheet hugging two lightly toasted rice patties, inside of which is a juicy beef burger, onions, lettuce, mushroom… and a special sauce! Totally awesome! It reminded me so much of some of the burgers served in Singapore! Very creative and the soy sheet added a nice touch to the experience, though this plate is good to share since there are two in one order… I shared it with the owner. I love the fact that we are having a variety of sushi burgers in Kuwait… each with its unique taste and presentation!

Then he asked me if I cared for anything to drink.. I was gonna ask for green tea or water, but he suggested I try their rocca juice (made of rocket leaves)!! And being the adventurous person that I am… I did not mind it at all

First impression? WOW! I loved it… its different!! I mean you can really taste the leaves… you feel’em strongly in the juice, yet it got that milkshake texture to it and it feels very light

Shortly after the owner’s brother came in and ordered some nigiri sushi; tuna and salmon… and yes of course, I snapped a picture for you

I had a great time and wonderful company! Very promising cafe in town! Besides sushi, they offer a wide range os salads, eggs, soups, appetizers, platters, sandwiches, pastas, noodles… you name it
They wanna cater to all tastes in town!
Keep in mind that the cafe is very tiny and can cater up to four persons at a time… soon they will have a seating area outside when the weather permits, but they do offer delivery
You can order by calling 22497971

You can find their full menu on their Facebook Group (link) along with the menu and more pictures
I will also scan the full menu and provide you with a link once its posted on Q8PaperDump.
Thank you Abdulla for lunch
It was really nice meeting you and your brother and I wish you all the best

Ever since I read someCONTRAST’s post about Oishii‘s Sushi Burger I have been craving it like crazy! I have been dreaming about it day and night… and yes! I’ve had it before (link)…. so yeah, I called them up and asked them to prepare me two orders (5 pieces each) for pick up! I got in and I started snapping away….

By the time I got there, they were preparing the burger patties and rice buns…

The sweet potato chips <3!

My oh my! I love this creation… the ingredients compliment each other really well
I was eating while they were preparing… the chips first, and then the burgers… so instead of delivering 10 pieces home, I went back with only… ahem… seven

Price tag? KD3 per order!
Oishii Sushi is located in AlShaab, Ibn Alkhateeb St. Their tel # is 22644440

The National are a Brooklyn-based indie rock band formed in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1999. The band’s lyrics are written and sung by Matt Berninger in a distinctive baritone. The rest of the band is composed of two pairs of brothers: Aaron and Bryce Dessner and Scott and Bryan Devendorf. Aaron plays guitar, bass and piano, Bryce plays guitar, Scott plays bass and guitar, and Bryan is the drummer. Padma Newsome, from sister band Clogs, often contributes strings, keyboards, and other arrangements and instrumental flourishes. The band’s influences range from Bruce Springsteen to Joy Division.

One thing to keep in mind about Final Fantasy IX is the fact that it idolizes the art of theatre, and is thus aesthetically unfolded as a play often does. The presentation of the game as a play is articulated via the exaggerated personalities of the characters, their demeanor, wardrobe, as well as the [...]

I was invited through one of my twitter buddies, Yousef, to visit the newly opened Java Detour cafe at Sour Building in AlSalhiya area (Gotta LOVE twitter)! Well anyways… I accepted the invitation and headed to the cafe at 6:00PM! The place is INVITING! A very high ceiling coffee shop, and I am talking four or five floors high!

Not to mention that I was there during the time of the day where the sun was setting and the lightening was amazing! Very spacious and very clean, with added modern touches that gives a hip feel to the place – I LOVE!
Anyways… the place was FULL! Why? Because of the World Cup! Yeah!! Guys were there all gathered to watch the game… but as soon as I met Yousef, he took me to one of the tables at the back where I met the owner – Mr. Abdulrahman AlMutawa, his cousin, and son (very brilliant young man mashallah)! I was greeted warmly by them and we talked in general about coffee, smoothies, teas… well and food
As soon as the match was over, the place get a bit emptier so I was able to snap some pictures for you

They have a variety of drinks to choose from; coffees, teas, smoothies, and yummies… prices-wise? I believe it was very well priced specially when you compare with other coffee shops in town… and given the fact that they have many organic ingredients and fresh food!

Besides… they have MANY tumblers – many designs for different uses

Here is the screen TV

and with all the World Cup heat, Java Detour introduced seven special drinks for World Cup 2010

Gotta love the Kids Arena option (and the fact that they have size X Small cups)

I took away with me their X Small and X Large cups for you to see
Oh and I used my BlackBerry as a scale

I told Mr. Abdulrahman what kind of Coffee I like, black + aromatic + and rich, so he suggested their Signature Roast, the organic Ethiopian bean coffee <3…. fabulous suggestion! I am hooked!!! It goes along with how they described it “Never burnt, never over roasted”! I totally agree <3
He asked me to pick whatever was there on the menu to try out… I was enjoying my Ethiopian brew so much and was fine with it, but he insisted, and he brought in many samples for me to try; Blended B&W (it also comes in over iced and hot) and Green Tea Tropical (iced)! He offered more, but I was so full!
Just to give you an idea of how the place look from the outside and how high the ceiling is

Anyways… I went back home with some goodies

Remember when I posted that I was looking for a tumbler? Well… I came back home with, not one… not two… but FIVE tumblers – a gift from Java Detour

Which I am planning to post about later
Each one is different and unique
Anyways… I had a great time at Jave Detour! Amazing coffee, spacious place, relaxing atmosphere, and awesome company! I am going to be a regular there
I really want to try their food next time I go
The branch I went to is located in Salhiya, Sour Building – right next to Operah. They have two other branches; one in Julaia’a next to Seashell Resort and the other is in Bairaq Mall. They are opening one soon in Al Arjaan – Beda’a area!
I would like to take this opportunity to first thank Yousef, for this amazing introduction, and second to thank Mr. Abdulrahman for his generosity and hospitality! I had a wonderful time
Thank you!

Walking past Regent St and into Princes St, I was spying on the plates of people sitting outside restaurants. What caught my eye was a tiny place that served Sushi, it looked good and fresh, so I decided to meet a friend there.

We ordered Sashimi Salad, which was really delicious, except for the bitter avocado’s but I can’t complain it was all gone.

Then came the Chicken Yakitori, it was below average, the chicken was under cooked!

Spicy Saki Maki (Salmon and Green Chilli with Crispy inside) it was the best + Spider Roll (it was Crunchy and had a weird texture, Deep fried soft shell crab ) + Ebi TP Roll (shrimp, avocado and crispy) + Tiger Roll (it was a Maki Roll but each Sushi lined either with Avocado on top or Shrimp, hence giving it the look of the Tiger)

Spicy Ebi with Rice and lettuce, this was a nice dish that is similar to the spicy rock shrimp you find in other restaurants)

What was funny that made the restaurant so Japanese was the typo in the “Appertiser” page lol

Also I loved the sign where they let people know that Chisou only uses “not endangered fish such as Yellow Fin Tuna for its Sushi and Sashimi”

Chisou is located 4 Princes St. London W1B 2LE and their tel # is 020 7629 3931/5255

The movie is just plain stupid! The story talks about Lenore, a pregnant graduate student, who leaves school and goes to live with her boyfriend. She gives birth to a baby monster who feeds on animal and human and God knows what! That baby kill them in the most brutal ways you can think of!!! The movie is beyond lame! I laughed so hard at some scenes….
Bad pictures, terrible acting, and stupid story! The worst movie I have seen this year!

The very sweet (sweeter than sweet) people behind Juju’s cannot stop spoiling me with their yummies! I am not complaining though because they sent me three jars of delights… mini cookies and brownies bites!

Yeah… At Juju’s its freshly baked with love

Chocolate Chip *My favorite*

Rocky Road

And brownies

Overall.. they tasted really good (specially the chocolate chip cookies), their size is perfect (not too small), and the presentation/theme was done nicely! Thank you Juju’s

I was sent two boxes of mini red velvet cupcakes and gers ogaily (Kuwaiti style/flavored) cupcakes from Cubby Love last weekend

The cupcakes are really really tiny but SO DAMN GOOD! I think I found the best velvet cupcakes in Kuwait! Wohoo!

The cheese frosting was colored in pink to match the red velvet cupcake color
Nice move! It was done perfectly; not too sweet and not too cheesy! The Gers ogaily were also delicious! The smell was so good too! Perfect to go with milk/tea mix for breakfast

To order, call 5505-2113

I have been spoiled WAY TOO much.. from family, friends, and restaurants all over town! Don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining… but following a healthiER life style seems to be hard at this point
Well I came home after a long day to find this bag

Did they know I am an ice cream addict or what!? That means when I see this… I dont give a hoot about diet and healthier life style

Four pints of ice cream <3 Raspberry & Cream Cheesecake, Raspberry, Nutty Butter, and Birthday Flavor.

Knowing me… I can eat a whole pint of ice cream while watching TV… I would just put one down in 20 mins or so! So I really really resisted having the whole pint and opted for two scoops of the Nutty Butter.. since I was told this flavor was introduced from the Kuwait branch and approved from the main Marble Slab office! How cool is that?

It was SO GOOD! I love peanut butter and this one tickled my senses just a bit… enough in order to avoid another ice cream overdose! Yes… My name is Ansam, and I am an ice-cream-a-holic :-S
Good news!!! They will start delivery soon and they will be on 6alabat soon

We were at our friends’ house last Thursday when they suggested we try t he new waffles from the waffle stand in Faiha Co-op, Maison de la Gaufre!

I am usually more of a maple syrup and waffle kinda person, but they told us their chocolate is outta this world… rich and luxurious… so I went ahead with the chocolate

The size is perfect considering the chocolate smothered on top of it <3 It was delicious and cooked just right

I simply loved it…. LOVED it… I had half a waffle cut into 2/4. I tried it also with a scoop of Ben & Jerry’s Creme Brulee, which added to the bomb… the bombilicious <3
I am gonna try it again with different toppings… ahhhh I love waffles!
Thanks Lujain

So yeah, its been a while since I have been to Dean & Deluca… gladly, I went earlier today with Shushu for breakfast and ordered one yummy meal (special order, not on the menu) the way I like it;

Two poached eggs, sausages, hash browns, and fig! It was yummy, as always! Eggs were made perfectly the way I like, the sausages with its special flavor/taste. Hash browns were cooked right, not too salty bu infused with herbs and bacon bits… and the figs, which I LOVE to have on the side.
Shushu had Waffles (I forgot to take a picture, so I am using one from a previous post)

I really do LOVE Dean & Deluca so much

I have so many addictions and more obsession…
This is my most recent addiction..
This show has
geek written all over it, but honestly with their 3rd season now, this might be the funniest sitcom I have ever seen!
My two Favorite characters are Rajesh Koothrappali from India. An Astrophysicist who has a social anxiety that is suppressed by alcohol and cannot talk to women if not intoxicated. Then comes Sheldon Cooper, or should I say Dr. Sheldon Cooper MSc, PhD. from Texas Who works as a Theoretical physicist. His character is way too complicated to explain, must be observed to understand!
I give it 2 thumbs up!

The visit before my last, I was so disappointed and distracted all the time by how Marina Mall has turned into, and I can only guess it relates to the Avenues invasion. Each parking lot has small sign before it, that would seem like handicapped parking only at first. Corridors were filled with booths from all kinds, some even blocking the outside view of some shops. restaurant tables are all covered with company ads. Well that last one might seem ok, but over all you get the feeling they’re sacrificing quality for short-term profits.
This last Wednesday however, I’ve seen the worst of all. Big chunk of the booths are gone, but on one of the sides, this is what I saw.

Yes, this is inside Marina Mall. I looked at it today in disbelief again. How could they allow it to go this low? Is there no limit to how bad the mall can get if it makes few extra bucks today, never mind tomorrow?
Sad really.

Last week we met with our friends at Posh Cafe… a new hip cafe that I have been meaning to go to for quite some time, and I finally did

The place was nicely crowded, we picked a table and browsed through their menu. Since it was our first time, the staff were nice enough to suggest dishes. You can also go by the bar and check their desserts and cakes.

We were there for dessert, so I didnt get to try their main dishes… but I got a bite of my friend’s yummy artichoke dip

This is my yummy carrot cake

Coconut rice pudding

Thats my friend brownie.. I think! She said it taste like a yummy baked cookie

Chocolate fondant…

If I am not mistaken, our bill was for around KD20… take or leave 3

So I finally got the chance to try The Meat Co. – Kuwait earlier last month

The place is nicely decorated… as a matter of fact, I loved the interiors the most out of the three I have tried (Dubai & Bahrain), though I love LOVE the outside seating area of the one in Dubai… nevertheless, the place was really nice and the staff were friendly.

Initially I wanted to try their house drink – non alcoholic cinnamon something… but they were out! Or maybe they wont make it anymore or something
I was a bit disappointed but oh well… I can still enjoy their yummy food selection! I wanted to have the Wagyu steak…. and again, they are OUT! Fine… how about the Australian Gold, and again… yes you guessed it right…. They were out as well. So the waiter spared me some time by listing the many food items they were out of… I was really disappointed! I mean how can they be out of their best steak cuts
Anyways… we ordered beef carpaccio and ribs for appetizers. The ribs were good (not as good as Bahrain’s). The picture is not doing it any justice since we asked them to remove the bones for us.

The carpaccio on the other hand was fabulous!

Now comes our food… I ordered the rib-eye burger – cooked medium, while my friend ordered cheeseburger cooked medium well. Mine came in and it was cooked medium well

I wouldnt say it was bad… no it was really good actually, but I would have liked it even more if it was cooked the way I asked for.. MEDIUM!!! My friend’s order came in with the cheese not melted. Seems like they forgot about the cheese and placed it at the very last minute :-/

They took it back in and it went from medium well to well done!!!!

To all of the above reasons, I am rating it as my least favorite amongst the Meat Co. branches I have been to! I have been to the one in Bahrain only once and left with great impression and amazing experience. Been to the one in Dubai few times, loved it there too! Been to the one here in Kuwait only once but I am finding it in my heart to go and give it another shot! Should I?

I only did one previous post in this category, and it was eons ago. This week I got another chance.

While browsing the net, reading some news and reviews on the new PS3 game Heavy Rain a lot of people were comparing it to Indigo Prophecy what some called the greatest video game ever. I realized that I never got to try out the game. and while I was clicking through Steam’s website. I found it the $10 section and thought why not, it was the perfect long weekend.

I downloaded the game and installed it and got around playing it Thursday night. The game doesn’t have much gameplay but rather a plethora of action sequences where you have to press certain buttons as they appear on the screen. But don’t get me wrong that is not bad at all, it blends well with the game.

It took me 2 days to complete the game with moderate playing time (4 hours a day) and really loved it.
Indigo Prophecy™ is an innovative adventure game that tells the story of Lucas Kane—an ordinary man who unconsciously commits a random act of murder. Through the use of branching storylines and multiple character perspectives, players embark on an immersive adventure on par with a Hollywood thriller.
Retro Rating: ★★★★★★★★★½
Modern Day Rating: ★★★★★★★★☆☆
5 years after its release, Indigo Prophecy is still an awesome game and is highly recommended.

We got invited to try out the new Let’s Burger Restaurant in its soft opening located @ 360 Mall in 3rd floor next to where the bowling is.
When we got in we thought the restaurant is so tiny and the place is so quiet, but turns out that we were in the waiting area! To be honest we did not have any expectations at all, but in the end that changed!

As soon as we entered the main area, I was surprised of how huge the place is! And all the staff working everywhere you could imagine even though there was few people inside as they are not open yet. We picked our table, and we were offered the menu and of course we had to choose carefully and to get as much dishes as we could so we can give our opinion for a lot of stuff.
The staff was so friendly to begin with, and they also promised that they will remain friendly when they open
We chose Boneless BBQ Wings, Chips Spinach & Co, and Bits of Everything for out appetizers.

The Boneless BBQ Wings were GOOD, specially that they don’t look like they are, but don’t judge a book by its cover
Chips & Spinach was good as well and I loved the spinach! It came perfectly HOT. As for the bits of everything dish, first lets see what it has to offer! The dish consists of Fried boneless chicken, mozzarella bites, curly fries, and bread with melted cheese.
The mozzarella bites were fine, and we all liked the sauce for it, nothing special about the bread with cheese, but we all liked the curly fries
I mean who doesn’t? As for the fried chicken we all agreed that it tastes like a normal home fried chicken. It even tastes like fried chicken nuggets.
As we moved on to get our main course, I was about to pick a classic burger, BUT thank god I saw the Swiss N Mushroom Burger so I did not hesitate to order as I’m a BIG BIG BIG Mushroom fan! The others ordered a Stuffed cheese burger, a Tuna burger, and the BIG BROTHER BURGER. A big brother burger is 500g and ITS DAMN HUGE. We never expected it to be that size!

My Swiss N Mushroom burger was PERFECT. I never tasted a burger like that before, especially that they added mushroom sauce which I’ve never seen any restaurant doing it before. Even though the sauce was dripping from the burger but I didn’t mind! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
The stuffed cheese burger was also good. The tuna burger came in a brown wheat bun, and it tasted nice with mixing they had with it (I think corn was in there). But it was a little bit dry. But for tuna lovers, they will love it!
Now the BIG BROTHER BURGER, it looked HUGE, and it was huge we had to cut it into pieces and share it. I thought the patty would taste bad since its so big, only to find out that I was wrong, and it was nicely done!
We also got served the Chicken Club Sandwich, and Grilled Chicken platter.

As you can see, the grilled chicken platter looks almost the same as Nino’s Healthy Chicken. Only that the grilled chicken platter is BETTER because we thought this chicken is juicy and not as dry as Nino’s. So yes, we loved it! The Chicken Club Sandwich was also nicely done, but we all agreed that it would be a good dish for breakfast
After all of that, we got served some desserts! We were really full but we wanted to do more review

As you can tell, we got a Brownie, which was GOOD. It was perfectly soft. We got an Apple crumble which was also good especially for apple sweets fans, A Banama crumble as well which was also good and we all liked it. I LOVEEEEEEEEEEED the chocolate fondue even though it was toooo small L. Finally the last dessert was the giant Let’s Dive. It had a bit of cakes, marshmallows, ice cream, M&Ms, and I think some more stuff.. everybody loved that as well!
I really loved the atmosphere, bright lightning it is a nice place for people who just want to eat and hang out. They even have free wireless and power outlets almost everywhere!
We really recommend this restaurant. The menu has much variety to choose from, so everyone will find something they like, and their prices are very reasonable.
We would like to thank Mr Fahad, Mr Shereef, and All the friendly staff.
Let’s Burger opens today Feb 26th (It should be open by the time you are reading this)
Let’s Burger is a franchise of Let’s Burger restaurants in Lebanon.

A couple of days later I saw P0ach’s Exclusive post about the restaurant and I got teased by all the “zexy” dishes – as he explained – and could not wait for the day to arrive
So yesterday… I finally got the chance to go with my sisters!

The restaurant is located on the third level in 360 Mall… right on top of Wagamama.

The reception area and the restaurant ambiance is very 1960-70s’ diner-like! Thats the waiting area

And their merchandise booth

The receptionist guided us through those retro walls and vintage posters on the wall… with TV screens! Very inviting

They are famous for their topping bar, where you make your own burger… your way!

Here are few more pictures of the restaurant and surrounding for you to get a feel of the place

This is their open bar area… adding to the decor with their smiley faces

We looked around for a place to sit to have our late lunch/early dinner…

Now let’s burger… shall we?

While their menu gives you a choice of wide variety and choices of burgers, they also have many appetizers, sandwiches, and desserts!

I was thinking… when in a burger restaurant, one must have a burger… or otherwise dont bother! But whats the harm in ordering a couple of appetizers before that along with two Shirley Temple and lemon n’ mint juice!?

So cheese nachos and bonless wings it is

The boneless wings were pieces of skinless chicken – unbreaded, which I think is a healthier choice than what we’re used to… no?

Both my sisters ordered the Mini Musketeers… three sliders with fries and coleslaw!

I, on the other hand, ordered the Swiss Mushroom burger… only thing that I did not like is that when I asked for it be cooked medium, they said they only do welldone, but assured me that it will be juicy and yummy… and it was! Though I still prefer to have that option

The burger was indeed juicy, but the cheese was melted… it was more of a sauce! Pay extra attention when you eat that burger, I wrapped mine in a napkin! I loved it!

The waiter brought as chilly cheddar sauce to try… it wasnt bad actually, but I prefer my fries the way they are… not even with ketchup!

We were stuffed… the staff, manager, and operation managers all kept coming to check on us… they refused, just refused that we leave without trying their desserts, specially the fondant. We asked them to share a couple but they brought us four to try! And of course… to be able to eat desserts at this stage, we were served coffee and tea LOL

This is their Mars Cheesecake… made with mars chocolate bar

Apple Crumble

Banana Crumble… the first time I try a banana crumble, and LOVED it! Its awesome.. too bad I could only take a bite only

But the best out of all was their fondant… we wanted to leave but one of the staff insisted that we wait (you need to order it ahead of time because it takes around 15 mins to prepare)! And let me tell you this… it was worth the wait! A vanilla ice cream with chunks of oreo cookies, chocolate fondant and banana sauce on the side! YUMMY

All in all… the place is awesome, service is superb, portions of food are generous, and the atmosphere is very appetizing! Their operation’s manager gave us a survey to fill out along with a bag of goodies
How cool is that?

Let’s Burger will officially open on the 27th of this month… do not miss it

Apps on the iPhone, there are so very many of them – how’s a person to find the best ones? We look at a whole lot of them here at ReadWriteWeb and we’d like to share with you some of our favorites we’ve discovered in the month of February. Some of us on the team are proud Android users but most of us are still using iPhones. I just discovered how incredibly effective the Genius recommendations on the phone can be, so I’ve been going nuts downloading new apps. Here are the ones our staff is most excited about this month. A semantic personal assistant, health and fitness apps, some great news apps, location based social networking apps and more are included this month. Sponsor Excited about iPhone apps? Don’t forget to download the ReadWriteWeb iPhone app . It’s a great way to read all our articles while on the go. Here are the ten apps we discovered this month and are most excited about. Siri – A semantic smart virtual personal assistant, chosen by Frederic Lardinois. “Siri is one of the most ambitious mobile services we have seen in the last few years. Imagine if you could just talk to you phone and tell it to call you a taxi, reserve a table at your favorite restaurant or tell you what the weather in New York City will be like tomorrow,” we wrote in our review . OboPay – A mobile payment app, chosen by Dana Oshiro. Lots of big companies are putting millions of dollars behind this startup that they believe could be the future of money transfers on the go. Google Voice Mobile Web App – An HTML5 mobile web app for Google Voice, chosen by Richard MacManus. When this app launched at the end of January, we ran a poll asking readers if it was good enough to use as a phone. 65% said it was. A month later, Richard still feels that way. iFitness – A mobile fitness app, picked by Richard, who wrote 2 weeks ago : “Described as ‘a personal trainer for your iPhone,’ the app lists over 260 exercises. It has text and photographic instructions for all of those exercises, with video for 100 of them… iFitness features exercise logging and graphing. In addition it has 12 routines for various goals; including weight loss, strength, golf program, and more. The app also allows you to create your own custom workout.” Data Logger from Pachube – An “Internet of Things” feed tracker, chosen by Richard. Pachube is an open source platform enabling developers to connect sensor data to the Web. We covered it in depth this Fall . iWriteWords – A much celebrated app to help kids learn to write, chosen by RWW’s Production Editor Abraham Hyatt. Gowalla – A design-centric location based social network, chosen by me, Marshall Kirkpatrick. I wrote about Gowalla in depth yesterday . I love it, I just with there were more people in Portland that were using it. Etsy Adict – An awesome 3rd party iPhone app for browsing Etsy listings. I love this app! I regularly spend hours strolling through listings for ceramic and fiber arts items. If you’re not familiar with the wildly popular site Etsy, check out this coverage of the company . The app is built on top of a Mashery -powered API and (disclosure) Mashery is a sponsor of ReadWriteWeb. SitbyUs – A mobile web app I reviewed last week and am really excited to use. It’s a seat-level check-in system for SXSW. It will tell you in which rooms and what sections your Twitter friends are sitting, so you can find them after a panel, etc. Guardian iPhone App – This daily news app is the best I’ve ever seen. It’s fantastic. It’s like $5 but it’s worth it, if only to see how they made it. But it’s lots of fun to use too. If you like this kind of thing, see also the CFR (Council on Foreign Relations) app. Those are our favorite new iPhone apps, what are yours? Stay tuned for next month’s selections. Discuss

Yesterday me and a couple of friends wanted to watch a movie and get a bite to eat. looking through the list of movies over at CineScape’s website there were only 2 options. The Wolfman and From Paris With Love. We chose The Wolfman just because it had Anthony Hopkins in it.
Man were we disappointed, the movie had nothing special, its your typical werewolf movie, no twists and turns. No surprises what so ever. I really had high hopes and expectations for this movie.
Sir Anthony Hopkins, you let me down.
I got a little cheered up after having a chili burger from Johnny Rockets though
That’s 2 movies out of a possible 5 from my list so far. Better get my act together and start catching up.

Being Sunday morning i was able to sleep in, i woke up and flipped thru my iphone and was face to face with Flixster. I decided to check out which were the nearest movie theaters with any decent movies, and stumbled upon Shutter Island. Flixster gave it a 70% but i decided to try it out nevertheless. I used to hate Leonardo Dicaprio, but after such movies as The Aviator, Catch me if You Can, Blood Diamond, Body of Lies and The Departed more recently, he has become one of the actors i am enjoying most in movies. So we went off to the movie theater but decided to eat as we were an hour early for the movie. We went to a Brazilian grill restaraunt which was right by the cinema, and it was awful. Its called Tucano’s grill, and it seemed like the meat was from actual Tucan’s, the bird that is. Anyway back to the movie.
The movie is around 2hrs and 18mins. The only way i can describe it is delusional, hallucinating and utterly genius. It drags you on for almost 2 hours thinking that you know whats going on, when the last 10 minutes it changes totally. Its not like a Sixth Sense kind of ending, but you have the feeling all the way through that something is not right, but its totally different than what you imagine. Of course there will be parts of the movie where you might think it is slow and too easy to guess, but only the ending does justice to the movie. Basically it is about a US marshall (Dicaprio), who is investigating an escaped murderess from a remote island (Shutter Island) which is a hospital for the criminally insane. Martin Scorsese again does not fail to amaze with this plot and ending. IMDB gave it an 8.5, and for their standards that is pretty high. Great movie, with lots of twists and turns and worth the watch.

A couple of days ago, I received a package from the kind people of “Tamreya” including their variety of tamreya added to it 4 new items that completes their collection. For those who don’t know “Tamreya”, it is a place that sells tamreya (slowly cooked dates mixed with butter and cardamom). I remember my Grandma used to make her special tamreya in the time of Ramadan every single year, but “Tamreya” took the definition of Tamreya to a whole new level by infusing their bites with a lot of flavors (Chocolate, Coconut, Digestive crumbs, M&M’s, sesame … etc).

The 4 new flavors are Hazelnut, Hershey’s Chocolate Kiss, Marshmallow, and (Kazoo). Every package of Tamreya comes with (Harda Dip). My personal favorite of Tamreya flavors are (Digestive crumbs, Coconuts, and Sesames) and I LOVE their harda dip!

The tamreya itself is very nice but because the tamreya flavor is very strong, I would suggest that they should be more careful choosing flavors that could go well with the taste of the tamreya because some of the flavors got lost in translation.

Special thanks to Abdullah Al-Hamad the owner of Tamreya!
Tamreya is located in Al-Khalidiya Co-op and Al-Qadsia Co-op

So I got to try The Early Bird – Jabriya Branch yesterday with two of my friends for brunch. I actually like this branch better than the one in Fahaheel for the following reasons;
- Location – its closer, and now you have an option of which place to go to
- Their distribution of staff, old staff members were present at Jabriya’s branch
- Seating Outside
- Amazing service – not that the Fahaheel branch wasn’t, but our service lady was just awesome and spread sunshine with her smiles and friendliness!
The food was amazing as usual… of the same quality if not better! We ordered many dishes and shared! Their black coffee was AWESOME too! My bag was too small for a camera, the pictures were taken using my BlackBerry

We ordered yogurt with granola and fruit, Monte Cristo, French toast bites (which I hardly recommend you try them with maple/yogurt syrup), pancakes with strawberries that were accompanied by a side dish of hash browns and sausages.

So not only the service was amazing, full of smile and sunshine, but the food was fresh, so yummy, and reasonably priced. Our bill total was KD9.750!
The Early Bird II is located in Jabriya Block A1, right next to the new Champion’s Gym, and their tel # is 2534-3009

The very kind and nice people at Tmreya sent me a box of 8 of their flavors accompanied with two dipping sauces. I told them I have tried it and posted about it some time ago (click here), they still wanted to send me a box again, I accepted… of course!

Now they have so many different flavors, I liked the traditional ones the most… but different choices/options are the to satisfy different tastes.

The minute the box was opened, everyone grabbed a piece of Tmreya! I tried it with my family and friends… all, with no exceptions, loved it, even my 8-year old nephew… He actually took what remained back him with him to have it for breakfast!

I liked the one with cinnamon and digestive biscuits the most! Really rich in taste and elegant to present with Arabic coffee.

They sell them in boxes, like the one I have here, or in multi designed dishes and trays when you go to their branches. The price per kilo is KD8

Tmreya is located in both; Khaldiya and Qadsiya Coops and their telephone numbers are 2492-6422/2253-1929

Thanks Abdullah

I worked hard this week, I worked so hard, I forgot my name when someone asked me whats your good name sir ? I went blank, HAH!
I was rewarded big time when I was contacted by the kind people over at Let’s Burger to grab a look at their place before they open up to public, then, given another reward by letting me chill with the owner and *ahem* we had lunch, I went their with the HAWT duo, the double Fahads and Bo7akeem, aww you guys, I loved the gesture, thanks a mill, your too kind.
Anyway, now its time to whip you down with my critical review, hah, thats so not me.
Concept
The place is a franchise from Let’s Burger Lebanon. Personally, I felt like the place is one of those spots in vegas, low key and friendly, much like an american diner. Check out a lebanese review here.
I understood that most of the dishes are home made specially Burgers and desserts. Plus they have a burger bar, not a salad bar, in which you can mix n match whatever it is you want on your zexy patty, say lettuce, tomato, pickles, cheese, mayo, you know ? Excellent for low carb-ers !
Space & Design
The design is modern/retro american, pushes you back to the 60’s probably ? I dont know you be the judge when you fix your eyes on the pics below, oh oh and THE PLACE IS HUGE ! The floor manager giggled when I said is this the whole restaurant ?

Thats actually just the waiting area, here is the restaurant from different angles:

I call this the mini runway. Work your heels mamas.

Food
The food is not a stranger to your taste buds cuz its american, but aaahhh there’s a twist, the burgers are not just patties stuffed, pulled, groomed, pushed, heated, slimmed, thickened patties, No no, these are home made patties.

I dont know if you get what im saying, you can grab a look at this video made by my baby daddy, Chef Louis, giving his all to the poor poisons:
Click here to view the embedded video.
As a matter of fact, we had a number of burgers, all of’em tasted differently, now thats cool !
Variety was rich, the amount of food served is like its given to you from the land of “plenty”, we were always given dishes with generousity, but then again its quality not quantity. In that field, you dont have to worry at all.
Starters
We all loved how random the starters were. The salads were amazing, specially the rocca salad, cheese balls, home special nachos, AAAAAH !!!
fix your eyes

Burgers & Grilled Chicken
I didnt know they did a stuffed with cheese patty, AHHHHHH LOVED IT, how is that even possible ? As I said earlier, depending on your order the patty differs, not just toppings and sauces.
Plus there is room to mix n match through the burger bar, Perfect !

Desserts
This BANANA, KOKO in the brain ignition dessert is a “LAWWWD HAVE MERCY” dish for sure, NEVER MISS IT OUT !!

The place will be ready for all you HAWT & zexy creatures by the 26th of FEB.
360 Mall.

On our second day in Bahrain we had dinner at Bushido

The place is very Buddha Bar like. We got in and saw some friends from GulfRun5 having dinner there. We sat by the window… I must admit that the place was nicely decorated and nice lounge music was playing in the background and adding to the atmosphere! Nice!

And now is the best part… food time

We ordered so many appetizers… Edamame, salmon carpaccio, and an AMAZING lobster salad (the best dish actually and it was a BIG hit), rock shrimps, and some sushi rolls too

Our main courses varied between tiger shrimps, fish, and negimayaki

Half way through our meals… the nice lounge music turned into somewhat acceptable Arabic/English remix. Not the right atmosphere for a place like Bushido, but somewhat tolerable! Then we ordered ginger ice cream and rice pudding for dessert!

By the time we ordered desserts, the music changed to STUPID Arabic remixes that totally did not fit with the place surrounding! I mean WHY!! And some weird looking middle aged men started coming and going to the upper floor, which I am assuming was a lounge or club! We really could not wait to just leave!
I mean it started off right… inviting atmosphere, nice music, and amazing company! Then it all went wrong halfway through! I must admit though that their food and menu selection is a bit better than that of Buddha Bar!

On our first day in Bahrain we had lunch at nu asia, a Pan-Asian restaurant in Seef AlAali that was recommended by my friend’s sister. They serve dishes from Japan, China, Thailand, and India! Interesting menu they got there
From sambosa, to sushi rolls, to green curry, and sweet and sour dishes! I would say they had dishes to satisfy every taste bud of Asian food lovers!

We ordered four appetizers, I think one of each cuisine… the below dish was crabs stuffed with sweet chili sauce on the side (sorry I forgot to note down the names of the dishes)

The above dish is prawns with sweet sauce (YUMMY – really good).. and the other two dishes were sesame shrimp on toast and vegetable sambosas

Our main courses varied between sushi rolls, green curry and coconut milk chicken, and noodles (sorry again about not knowing the exact name of the dishes :-S)

My main dish was the green curry and it was amazing! I tried one of the sushi rolls and loved it too. The appetizers were amazing specially the prawns with that sweet sauce on the side. We ate A LOT but it still felt light! I love that!
Atmosphere was calm, and I loved how the restaurant was built into two floors with very high ceiling! The combination in everything was their theme; the use of color, food items, and interior design.. I only think their service is TOO slow… they serve the dishes and forget about you.. kinda.. You have to wave and call and wave.

I left work one day and found dBite’s menu on my windshield

and to my luck.. they have BAGELS
So I ordered Bagels like two days in a row LOL… this is one of which, with peanut butter and honey (KD0.900)

And here are some of their other food items I ordered at work since I wanted to try other items besides bagel!
Caesar Salad (KD1.400)

Chicken & Avocado (KD1.400)

On the fourth or fifth day I ordered from them, and for some reason they sent me an extra salad with my roast beef! I called and inquired and they didnt have a good answer… whether it was complimentary or a side with the sandwich! (KD1.400)

First time I called… they got all my info, but not my name…. it was still showing as “GUEST” in their system and on the bill I got

Next time they called… they’re like “Hello miss Guest!” LOL… I mean come on!! But all in all… their sandwiches are fresh, I loved their bagel (peanut butter and honey)… oh and they deliver their food in timely manner (maybe because they’re close to where I work?)
Anyways… dBite is located in Sharq -opposite Banks Complex- and their tel # is 2245-4133 and their BB Pin is 24AC8F10

Alright you guys, I told you about this baby being installed in my room and stuff, let me just say, that I might be OUTDATED to many of you who have the service, but to those who dont, trust me, this is the REAL DEAL !
To begin with, I paid exactly 83 KD 500 fils for the following:
- Show box reciever, a semi TIVO receiver with nearly 160 GB of hard disk memory, I LOOOOOVE IT !
- Installation.
- Two months of “Premiere Plus” subscription.
- They brought a brand new satellite, installed it up, they even did the necessary cable drilling through my window. The guys were professionals and knew exactlly what they were doing.

Powerful Remote Control:
See this ? this remote is insanely powerful. Its insane, for real, i mean, im addicted to it, I cant let it go out of my hands, at all. why ?
well first of all, I get to record my favorite shows by just going through the TV guide that updates itself by the hour, I simply choose the program I want, I ask it to record the damn thing for me, and BAAAM, I have the whole thing waiting for me at home.
Maybe you dont understand, I can pause, stop, fastforward lousy commercials, repeat a scene, its CRAZY !! going through the TV guide’s timing is not an issue no more, NOW, I decide when to watch what I want, when I want and HOW i want, I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT ! AAAAAAAH !!! wait hold on, I need to do my dance, ok 1, 2, 3, GO !

Shows on demand:
And then you get even more spoiled by going through a free special 40 hours session called OSN on demand, which is basically a handful of TV shows, movies, documentarires that are downloaded into your hard drive and are literally waiting for you to watch’em, on demand, for free !
Now im watching The Tudors, Season 3, its HAWT, historical but has lottsa of baby making scenes, nasty, *snap*
Reminder:
I love the reminder service, suppose your watching a show but THINK that there is a more important show for you to watch, simply go to the tv guide, choose what you like and click on the reminder button and it will give you two options. The first is to simply remind you that your show has started, the second, my favorite, cuts off whatever it is your watching and takes you directly to your favorite show. AHHHHH !! the good life !
Pay Per View:
Whenever you feel bored, hardly, you can go to the pay per view set of blockboster movies with insane clarity and really well up-to-date set of movies. Nearly 1 KD.
Movies, Music, TV Shows:
They have the MONIQUE SHOW !! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH !! and BET !! need I say more ? I mean yall know im ghetto/black/afro american deep in my heart for some reason and those guys are serving me right.
Seriously though, the set of TV shows, music channels and movies is just beyond what you could ask for. Plus, there are many more shows that make me smile all day long like:
-Ellen.
-Trace.
-OSN variety.
-Good morning America & Good morning America “Health”.
-BET
-E!
-Downsize me.
-Sports channels to grab my bigger and younger brother to my room, HAH!
SUPER clean/clear:
The images, sound, clarity and the whole viewing experience is insanely clear. For instance, I saw grey’s anatomy on TV before, but here, its like people are about to pop out of the screen, its unreal !
Independent internet:
Probably my favorite part of this whole experience is that the SHOW BOX gets the internet independandtely from the satellite, so this will not in any shape or form affect the internet connection speed in your house at all.
Ofcourse the shows that are “ON DEMAND” for you are downloaded into the BIG hard disk on your show box with insane speed, I didnt even know these shows were downloaded to begin with, LOVE LOVE LOVE the speed, effiencay and quality of what I have, its one of the best things I did to my room/myself ever.

Few days ago, the owner of Lovin’ Oven wanted to send me red velvet cupcakes to try them out, and I was -like always- up for it of course
So I got my goodies with lots of love <3

So not only she sent red velvet cupcakes, but also heart shaped chocolate brownies

As I was opening the bag, I took my time reading the card and taking pictures, but when I looked up I saw some waiting faces (it was our family get together)… kinda telling me “WE ARE WAITING… Share the love NOW” !!
Now it was hard for me to pick which one I like better because both were really good! The red velvet cupcakes were topped with cheese frosting which complimented it really well… and those heart shaped brownies were a big hit with my friends last night! I had one red velvet cupcakes, and I cant remember how many brownies I had
Well done Lovin’ Oven and all the best… Thanks for the lovely valentine’s goodies

This post is about our last dinner in Paris trip, my manager was in Paris for some business and he met us for dinner in Pizza Vesuvio.

We had beef carpaccio, salmon carpaccio, Nicoise salad, and minestrone soup!

My manager ordered Quatre Saisons sans jambon… he said it was okay!

I ordered spaghetti alle vongole (spaghetti with clams) thinking it was the same one I ordered so many times in Italy… it was awful :-S

My friend ordered Pasta de fruits de mer… she said its not all that, she wouldnt go back there again…

and last dish was mushroom pizza, not bad… but again, it wasnt all that

Appetizers were okay, I liked the carpaccio (both) way more than the main courses… the service was below average! So… hmmm no, I would not recommend this place… It was the company that made up for the night! We had a great time. Good conversations and lots of laughs! My manager saw the crazy food picture taking part of me! LOL
Oh, and Pizza Pino is not too far away from it anyways… and their food is yummier!

On the ninth day of our trip we had few things in mind. First things first, we wanted breakfast
Then we wanted to go see Centre Georges Pompidou, and of course dinner later in the day! We usually have a very yummy full breakfast and early dinner while traveling… snacks in between when hungry
So my friend took us to Cafe Rive Droite in Les Halles

It was so cold but we wanted to enjoy the view… so we sat outside in the covered area… they had heaters on

Check out how all seats are facing outside the cafe… very French

Well well… hello there!! We were joined by a little visitor! LOL

Anyways…. as usual, I will torture you with some food pictures

Here I must say… that adding mustard to your eggs makes you go hmmm hmmm YUMMM

Quite a few times they question us having eggs for breakfast -not very French for us- but come on! Eggs are made for breakfast <3

And a salad for my sister who said she had enough of eggs and bread and wanted to have a salad for breakfast instead!

As for me… I never say NO to bread <3 and specially while sitting in a French cafe, and I am given French baguette!! Oh La La

Then it was…. CREPES time!!!

So what they have on top is just some sort of code for them to know which is which…. the yummies are inside

enough with food… we wanted to go to Centre George Pompidou, so we walked there. It is really close by. While walking, I spotted Starnucks… During my trip I have only seen a couple of Starbucks cafes, unlike us here in Kuwait… we have it on every corner

I personally prefer other cafes in town over Starbucks!! I know Toomzie does not agree with me

And here we are…. Centre Pompidou

….. to be continued

The very nice guys at Melenzane (M&M) invited me to come try their food… They asked me to bring along a couple of people, so I went with one of my sisters whos in love with Italian food and eggplants (English for Melenzane), and a friend who isnt crazy about Italian food but was up for trying the new place out

One of the owners was waiting for us with a huge smile and very welcoming atmosphere, the place looked really different, in a good way different! The background techno music just added to the whole chaotic design. Chairs upside down, tables on the wall, or used as lights… very industrial feel that is softened up by some classical mirrors on the wall. Flashlights dangling, with an upside world all around!! It was amazing!!! I LOVED it.. and here are few pictures for you to get a feeling to what I am trying to explain, and it wont do the place any justice, it is MUCH nicer to be quite honest (wish they did not allow smoking inside though
)

They (both Ms) were so happy to give us a tour around the place explaining things out and answering questions, so we went up to check the place out. (and I got into the Kitchen too Wohooo)

Check how the stairs look as if they were built upside down!!

I tried to take as many pictures as possible to give you a feel of the place!

OK now lets talk food, shall we?

While munching on the bread basket and browsing through the menu, we asked them to surprise us with the appetizers, but we were to pick our main dishes. I opted for spaghetti bolognaise, my sister ordered chicken with penne, while my friend ordered fish (Dore) and vegetables. I only asked him for a mushroom soup since Q80 in Denver suggested it for me. Not a bad idea, the soup was good

They brought in a salad with roca leaves, meatballs, and artichokes… LOVED the dressing, would have preferred it without the meatballs though, but then again, my sister loved the meatball addition to it! I guess its a matter of taste afterall

Those mini burgers were best sellers, now you have to be brave to eat them cuz the beef patties are soft, and you should just try and eat’em in two or three bites tops!

This dish I did not honestly try! Both my friend and sister tried it and liked it

The below is a picture of their stuffed mushroom, and I must say it was the best appetizer offered that day – judged by the three of us! FABULOUS! I loved those and I highly recommend’em!!

And now our main courses; my sister’s chicken and penne, my spaghetti, and my friend’s fish….

Just before I took a bite from my spaghetti I told my sister I hope its one of those bolognaise where you can taste the sweetness in the sauce, and guess what! IT WAS!!! So yummy!
For dessert, we ordered strawberry tiramisu, espresso tiramisu, and chocolate pudding! I tried all three and loved the espresso tiramisu the most! I complimented my dessert with very aromatic solo espresso

After dinner we sat with the owner and gave him our full review! He was very open minded about it and a very good listener too!
Anyways… Melenzane is located in AlBeda’a restaurants, in the new extension next to Rasha Chic in SHIIK resort. Their hotline is +965 9728-8299

So I finally got to try the Baking Tray New Brunch Menu last weekend!

We got there around 10:35-40am and browsed through their menu. I, for sure, wanted to try an item from their weekend menu so I ordered the English Breakfast with Chai & Haleeb (tea with milk). My friend wanted the turkey omelette with a side of sauteed mushrooms.

At around 10:50am, my friend’s order arrived…
She decided to wait till my order comes. After around five minutes I begged her to start, she wont enjoy her meal if it gets cold. I was thinking my dish will arrive soon. Another 10 minutes passed, she was almost half way through, I asked about my order and they tell me its coming in a few minutes. Well guess what? My order was on the table more than 20 minutes later… My friend was done with her breakfast, we were a bit angry, and worst of all… they did not do anything about it!

I mean I am a regular at the cafe and I go there A LOT… sometimes every single day of the week. I love their food. As a matter of fact the English Breakfast was really good but I did not enjoy it one bit. I was angry and hungry… it was a day for us to have breakfast together not over 20 minutes apart, and we had to cancel some errands that we were supposed to do because my total wait time was like 40 minutes (if not more) to get my food
Very UNUSUAL for Baking Tray and what I am used to! What went wrong that day!!!!
Why Baking Tray… WHY!!!!!

On Day VIII we had breakfast at Angelina… A place I keep hearing about, and reading about on someCONTRAST and 1/2 Cream Milk, that I just had to go!

We managed to get a table on the lower level. As I sat down I took a look around.

Classical interiors with mirrors and marble tables

I browsed through their menu, which starts of with a brief history of Angelina (it was established back in 1903 and was visited by many famous people such as Coco Chanel and Audrey Hepburn).

The main reason I went there was to try their much talked about African Hot Chocolate… a drink that made this cafe so famous for years

The hot chocolate is served with whipped cream

The outcome… TOTAL DIVINE! I did not really believe whatever I have heard about it till I tried it! And I thank everyone who recommended it for me <3
Our breakfast dishes varied and I have few pictures of which to share

And now its finally the Mont Blanc time… the cafe’s best seller made of a meringue base topped with whipped cream and chestnut cream. We were five, and since both 1/2 Cream Milk and someCONTRAST hated it, we ordered two pieces only. I told them that I will try it and if I love it I will have it all to myself (I do not usually share my food).

And boy oh boy…. That Mont Blanc overwhelmed my taste buds. I had one piece all to myself while the rest shared the second!

I seriously do not understand why someCONTRAST and 1/2 Cream Milk did not like it! Plus it does not contain honey at all (I cant remember which blog mentioned that). Its an AMAZING cake, and I will try to create my own version of it…. Fabulous and HIGHLY recommended
I went upstairs to take pictures and it was empty!

Before we left, we stopped at the pastry section… the sales lady there was SUPER friendly. And since it was January, they were celebrating Gallette Des Rois (which I will be talking about soon). The pastries they sell contains a trinklet/figurine, in which the ones who gets it get to wear the crown

So I snapped some more pictures of desserts on display

And she also gave us two chocolate squares each *yummmm*

Our bill was EUR111.90 (drinks, breakfast, and dessert). Totally worth every cent spent on it.
Angelina is located on 226 Rue de Rivoli, 75001 Paris (opposite Jardin des Tuileries and Louvre), and their tel # is 01 42 60 82 00
