Massimo Tartaglia assaults Berlusconi

Monday, December 14th, 2009

This happened in Milan a little while ago while Italy’s Prime minister Berusconi was meeting and greeting his supporters. We never condone violence of any sorts, but, just as the shoe throwing incident with George W. Bush brought a certain amount of sweet justice, this one does too. Berlusconi has been known for his chauvinistic  jokes, his strong anti-human rights stances, his racist comments (once directed at Obama) and his sense of supriority over the Arab world. He is also in love with Bush. A leader of the “center-right” in Italy who also happens to be embroiled in endless sex scandals and alleged ties with the mafia. Pn top of all that, he has a strong hold on the media that has given Italy low rating in the Freedom Houses indexes. We don’t sympathize with him at all, but we remain with our pacifist beliefs, even if the damage he has done to lives is way much more than two broken teeth and a fractured nose.

Janet Jackson reveals cover for “Best Of” collection

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

janet_thebest-490x490

So, she changed the name from Number 1’s to The Best, because, as we’ve said before, some of these tracks never saw top spot in their lives. Still, the album cover could have used some boasting and boosting. Cute is out and fierce is in. She should have done something lavish and decadent that honors her long-standing career in the pop world. Like her standing on a very high pedestal and spitting on Ashanti, or something in that sense. But, we get to settle for this re-issue package that’s lackluster in appearance and really doesn’t do anything new to Janet Jackson completists like us.

New iPod Touch and Nano revealed, prices slashed

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

ipod-nano-g5AThe music event that Apple is launching in a couple of hours has leaks some info. This above, my friend, is the new iPod Nano. They are sleeker and the white one comes with black turn-wheel. The Nano comes in 5G. Also, it will be available with a sexy 16 GB storage space in many different colors.

Meanwhile, the new iPod Touch is looking more and more like an iPhone. It comes in 3G now with a camera and looks thicker, no? This is the third generation so its functionality must work better.

Plus, no news on the iPod Classic. Discontinuation looks imminent.

Sugababes leak new single “About A Girl”

Monday, September 7th, 2009

Picture 1

Another song and the supposed second single from Sweet 7 has been leaked. It’s called “About A Girl.” It’s producec by RedOne. Yes, when you thought that Lady Gaga was singing “On red wine…” she was actually saying “RedOne.” Really, who goes clubbing to “Just Dance” on red wine? Anyway, it’s fun and all kinds of poppy. Not their best effort, to say the least. Click below for the song.

Documentary: Hungry for change?

Food Inc.

Food, Inc., a documentary currently viewing in independent movie theaters across the United States and Canada, is a must-watch. It blatantly illustrates how the food industry has been eaten up by a few large giants and demonstrates how politically active the executives are in congress.

Food is a necessity. People today have been too consumed with processed foods to the extent that the relationship from farm to table is no longer traceable. The nation that created the fast-food phenomena is now in the midst of an obesity epidemic. Genetically Modified Foods resulted in larger sizes and faster growth. Does it taste the same, though, or have we forgotten their original taste? Hmm.

Images show how animals and farmers are abused by the binding contracts with the giant firms. Once these small local farmers decide not to comply with the food giants’ inhumane regulations, they are automatically jobless and severely indebted. Thus, they are forced to stick to the system.

The movie focuses on the viewer. It all goes back to the take-home message which is basically this: you get to decide what you want to eat, so change starts from you. If demand is triggered, these large firms will face a change-your-actions-or-die scenario. But of course, this is ass

uming a large number of the population will change their eating habits.

Activists that took part in this documentary include the successful author of In Defense of Food: An Eaters Manifesto, and The Omnivores Dilemma Michael Pollan, and Eric Schlosser of Fast Food Nation.

Britney Spears does David Letterman’s Top 10

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

Exclusive: Video: “Wild About It” by Natalie Imbruglia

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

We are very excited to catch the new Natalie Imbruglia the second it came out. The number of views is in the 2 digits and we already love the song. She is newly-independent and ready to reclaim her glory. She has disappeared for a while to record Come To Life, which is set for the third quarter release. The song is a little quieter than we expect from the “Torn” singer, but it’s a grower and is probably only a snippet of what’s to come on her highly-anticipated upcoming album.

Update: this is not the first single, it’s just a teaser. The official first single will be released in September and it will be called “Want.” Also, as we stated, the album is slated for an October 5th release. Excited!

Video: “Kill The Lights” by Britney Spears

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

Don’t get your panties up in a bunch, it’s just an animated video for one of the best songs of Circus. There’s no excuse for it. When she did the animated video for “Break The Ice” we understood because she was going through rehab. Now, why this? I mean a live version with some graphics, in the Madonna manner of “Miles Away” and “Get Together,” would have been better than this Bratz looking fiasco! For such a fun and happening song she should have done something elaborate and dancey, but something tells me Britney just wants to release as many songs as possible to fill a singles compilation coming out soon.

Lilith Fair to relaunch in 2010

Sunday, July 19th, 2009

1997-lilith-tc

One of the greatest music festivals to ever grace this earth is about to make a come back 11 years after its last run. Lilith Fair, which was the first all-female music festival to tour North America from 1997 to 1999, is about to make a return according to a tweet by co-founder of Nettwerk Records and current CEO Terry McBride. Some tour dates have been set for London around the summer of 2010.

Lilith Fair was described as ” a celebration of women in music.” Many artists got their start on Lilith like Nelly Furtado and, a few might know, Christina Aguilera. Other’s careers soared after the rise of the festival, like Natalie Merchant and co-founder Sarah McLachlan. The idea for the event started when Sarah McLachlan found it hard to get booked back-to-back with another female artist on the same festival dates. What started as a tour with friend Paula Cole ended up being one of the biggest concerts of the decade and donated around 10 million dollars to women’s charities.

No word yet on the lineup or any further dates for the resurgence of Lilith Fair. However, the usual suspects are being tipped as headliners and there will be no problem filling up the roster since their is an abundance of female talent nowadays.

Paris Hilton to do show in Dubai

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

73f40b82a5484477_paris

She talked briefly about it on The Ellen Show, but it turns out that it’s true. She is actually doing a BFF show in Dubai. She did the US twice and the UK once. But, she hasn’t gotten enough U’s, so she is doing the UAE. The show will follow the same format, but a little bit more discreet. The elaboration on that is not made available, but I am guessing she won’t be veiled. No word yet, on what or where the contestants are going to be / from. But, it is going to be an interesting bunch of episodes. For the full article go here. Next up, Uruguay.

Usher thinks Chris Brown should be remorseful

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

s-usher-largejpgThis story is taking twists and turns every which way. Rihanna’s not pressing charges against the criminal and now everyone has an opinion of the whole bashing. We have yet to know what the incited the problem, not that it matters. Battering is battering. Chris Brown chilling at P Diddy’s mansion and jet skiing doesn’t make him look shamed either, that’s why Usher’s on the blast. Is Diddy a Chris Brown sympathizer? The weirdest thing, though, is that I read this on the Huffington Post!
