Our second favorite New Zealander (after Bic Runga) has got to move on from her debut album and get to the second album. This has been going on for ages. It’s too old and too heard. No more remixes or EPs or singles. She needs to get out some new material if she wants to keep the buzz going.

Just to put a few buidlings in perspective this is the new Burj Dubai in comparison to a few other famous buidlings. I have seen it quite a few times and I’m still impressed when I see the size of it, and its not just one buildilng, its multiple buildlings formed into one giant skyscrapper. The red ones are getting built, some soon to finish and others a little longer down the line, and the black ones are a few of the tallest buildings in the world, click on the picture for a larger and clearer image.
So, since last posting, a lot has happened. We finished up our trip in Milan, looking at Tomaso Stefanelli as well as Derek Lam. We also got a chance to check out several up and coming designers that were very interesting that we are now deliberating over. We then had a magnificent lunch at Paper Moon, a quick walk around 10 Corso Como and finally rush off to the airport to fly to Paris. After a bite at a charming little French cafe, we woke up bright and early for our first day of appointments in Paris.
Alexis Mabille was our first appointment, and it was the perfect beginning. It was like a fairytale with pastels, lace, bows, ruffles, and feathers. The way he sequinced his show was it to start as a dream land with colors of little girls tutu’s, soft pinks, dove grey, icy blues, then it slowly morphed into reality with navy’s then to black. I absolutely fell mad for a two piece done in all white lace and cinched at the waist with a beaded belt- something I guarantee Princess Grace would have worn if she were alive today. Absolutely beautiful. Alexis himself was in the showroom as well and was so modest about his stunning collection. Lovely to meet such a talented person.
Our next stop was the ever exciting showroom of Louboutin! The shoe heaven that my heart knows we are approaching as it begins to tap tap rapidly in my body. Four walls of pure shoe obsession. He played more with studs, some masculine shapes, more exposed platforms, lace, bright patents, and some ruffles. The newest and most beautiful story reminded me of Faberge Eggs, they were soft satins in turquoise or apricot pinks that were overlaped with silver or gold caged finishing. They were to die! He also worked with this fabulous fish scale mirror type fabric that just oozed Diva!
And the best part? As we were leaving we were each gifted a little box of Christian Louboutin’s signature macaroons inside their gorgeous boxes that he designed himself. I write about it several weeks back. A box of freshly made Parisian macaroons after leaving an afternoon of shoe bliss- could I possibly have a better job!?

إنقمار بيرغمان (3)
يعتبر فيلم صرخات و همسات أول فيلم ملوّن للمخرج السويدي إنقمار بيرغمان الذي إستغل هذا الأمر بكل وقاحة ليدخلنا داخل نفسية الشخصيّات الأربع الرئيسية للعمل عن طريق اللون الأحمر الطاغي على الأثاث الحائط الساعات الزهور الشراشف و هو اللون الذي يحويه جسد الإنسان من الداخل و هو أيضاً لون الروح و الحلم, فقد تم إستخدامه تحديداً لتسهيل عملية إقتحام تلك النفوس التعبة و المرهقة من الحياة و طبيعتها, كل مشهد ينتهي بشاشة حمراء و يبدأ بنفس الطريقة, مقلقة و مزعجة و متعبة كانت تلك الطريقة الشعرية الجميلة التي كانت واحدة من أهم الأدلة التي تشير على أهمية تأثير الألوان على السينما و تأثيرها على نفسية الشخص المحاط بها.
قصر ضخم مطلي باللون الأحمر و يتجوّل به أربع نساء يرتدون اللون الأبيض ويخوضون صراعاً مع الموت الزائر لهم, و هي عادة بيرغمان إذ غالباً ما تكون مواضيعه تدور حول الموت و سكرّاتها المرعبة و نهايتها الغامضة, فالقصة تدور حول آجنس صاحبة القصر التي تصارع مرض السرطان و هي ممدة على سرير الموت و محاطة بأخواتها الإثنتين و الخادمة آنا, طرح قضيّة الموت هنا أتت كالحل الوحيد و الخلاص من العذاب و الألم التي تعاني منه و لا تواسيها سوى كتابة مذكّراتها حول طفولتها و جنّتها الضائعة و تواصل التناغم بمعزوفاتها على البيانو تماماً كما كانت تفعل والدتها قبل عشرين عاماً, أما الأختين فالأولى و هي الكبرى إنسانة جامدة و صارمة تخاف الموت و متلبّدة المشاعر فقد تحطمت و تدمرت في اليوم الذي تحطم فيه كأس النبيذ بين يديها و هي تنظر لزوجها البائس هو الآخر و كأنها تلومه على سلب روحها من جسدها.
الأخت الأخيرة جميلة و ممتلئة بالمشاعر فهي توزّعها في خيانة زوجية و بعض منها رأفة على أختها التي تصارع الموت -وتطلبه للخلاص- و الجزأ الأخير منه حنيناً لماضي جمعها مع أخواتها حين كانت المحبّة سائدة بينهم, و أخيراً تأتي عبرة الفيلم و أساسه, الخادمة آنا التي خدمت سيدتها آجنس إثنى عشر عاماً, فهي و على الرغم من أنها تشاهد سيّدتها تصرخ و تنادي من الألم و رغم حادثة وفاة إبنتها الصغيرة إلا أنها تصلي و تطلب الرحمة و تشكر الله على السعادة و إستمرارها حيّة على هذه الأرض, فهذه الأم المحرومة إستطاعت أن تعوّض الحنان الذي كان بداخلها لإبنتها لتقدّمه لسيدتها التي تصرخ طالبة للخلاص و الدفئ و السلام, في حين تقف الأختان في حيرة من أمرهما و لا يستطيعان فعل شيئ سوى إنتظار طرق الباب ليزورهم الموت و يأخذ أختهما بعيداً و يخلّصها و يخّلصهم هم منها, فمازلت أقف عاجزاً و مذهولاً حول إيمان تلك الخادمة الصادقة و الرحيمة في أشد الظروف - وهذا موضوع غالباً ما يتطرّق إليه بيرغمان في أفلامه-, و من هنا يتصوّر أمامنا أهمية الإيمان في الحياة و مدى تأثيره على سعادتنا و قوته التي تقف صامدة أمام أبشع النفوس البشريّة دون التأثّر أو الإلتماس بها.
تأثُر بيرغمان من الثقافة و الفلسفة و الأساطير السويدية واضحاً جداً بطريقة معالجته لتلك العلاقات المبعثرة و مواجهتها للموت و طرد رحمة الله منهم, و ذلك يظهر في واحد من أشنع و أرعب المشاهد التي رأيتها على الإطلاق و هو مشهد بما معناه دلّ على إغلاق أبواب السماء عنهم و تعليق الروح بين الأرض و السماء و لا أريد التحدّث أكثر عن هذا المشهد الشعري الفنّي و سأترك الرعب الذي سيتخلخل أي مشاهد له يحكم و يصف, كل تلك الأفكار و الإيدولوجيّات الصعبة التي تم تجسيدها من قبل أربع نساء قويّات صارمات أدّوا أدواراً مرعبة و عميقة لمجرّد التفكير بها, في الحقيقة هم لم يصنعوا أدوارا مذهلة فحسب, بل خلقوا سينما نسائية عاطفية متينة لا يهزّها رعب أفكار بيرغمان الخطيرة.
فيلم صامت من بطولة صوت دقّات الساعة و صرخات عالية مرتعبة من الموت و همسات نتنه تختبئ بين النفوس عن طريق دراسة للون الأحمر, دراسة للإنسان و ما بداخله من حقل تناقضات مزدهر, فهذا الفيلم ليس للمشاهدات العاديّة بين الأصدقاء أو لأي مشاهد يريد أن يقضي ليلة جميلة مع فيلم سينمائي سريع, فهذه المادة السينمائية دسمة و مشبعة و قد تصيبك بالتخمه أحياناً, تستطيع أن تنتهي من هذه التجربة دون أن تتعلم شيئاً كما فعلوا أخوات آجنس, أو تستطيع أن تأخذ منها ما تستطيع من قيم و فن و سينما حقيقية, و هي سينما بيرغمان المذهله, التي إختلفت عن ما سبقه من أعمال له إذ حينها كان خياله محاطاً بالأبيض و الأسود و قدّم مع فيلمه صرخات و همسات دراسة جديدة و مختلفة عما سبق و لكنها بالطبع مازالت تحتفظ على جوهرها الأصيل و الرائع, بلا شك واحد من أبرز و أهم و أفضل أفلام هذا المفكّر العظيم في مسيرته على الإطلاق.

One of the largest, high quality diamonds discovered to date has been found at a mine in South Africa, mining group Petra Diamonds has revealed.
The 507 carat stone, which could be worth in excess of $20m (£12.5m), was found with three other large diamonds.
They were discovered at the famous Cullinan mine, where the largest diamond in history was found more than 100 years ago.
The new find is being analysed by experts to determine its true value.
A 480 carat diamond found at the end of last year fetched $18m.
“The Cullinan mine has again given the world a spectacularly beautiful and important diamond,” said Petra’s chief executive Johan Dippenaar.
“Initial indications are that it is of exceptional colour and clarity, which suggest extraordinary potential for its polished yield.”
Petra said the stone is one of the 20 biggest, high quality diamonds to have been found.
A 168 carat stone was also discovered, alongside one of 58 carats and another of 53 carats.
The largest diamond to be discovered, named the Cullinan, was 3,106 carats. It was cut into nine separate stones, many of which are in the British Crown Jewels.

I was talking about someone yesterday at work, who's a friend of one of our colleagues. He’s a person like leeches, the black worms that sucks your blood.
I said that leeches are good for the body for a certain time, but they hurt it if they stay on your body for too long.
When I told my manager about this metaphor and how he's like a leech worm, he started laughing about it. Today the friend of this "person" came to me and told me that my manager told him what I said about his friend.
He started laughing and I laughed too. He said what we really call that "person" a mosquito, comes whenever he's hungry, sucks blood and leave!
He also added that he has another nickname since whatever our company do he makes the same and wants the same and ask us to do the same! His other nickname is Taiwan!!!
Hahaha, amazing how people look for their interest only and forget what friendship is all about...

I love the Sephora ads, even if they won’t mail anything to me in Qatar. I have to use all my points when I am back in the USA. I still love seeing what I am missing, and if I really really want something, I can usually find someplace to order it or someone to take a run to Sephora to get it for me, especially when I am getting low on just-the-right-shade-of-eyeshadow. And no, no, the Sephoras in Kuwait and Qatar don’t carry all the brands that a full-fledged Sephora in France or Germany or the USA will carry. No Urban Decay for sure.
But this – this has a familiar ring to it. When I was young, even a kid, I think there was some lipstick that made the same claim, you put it on and it turns the right color for you.
So how does it do that?

تتميز كل أمة من الأمم، بتنوعها الشاسع بين الشرق والغرب، بذهنية خاصة تبرز بها عن مَن سواها. هذه الذهنية هي انعكاس مباشر للثقافة السائدة في هذه الأمة، وهي أيضاً انعكاس مباشر لحالة الصحة أو المرض لها. فعندما تسود المجتمع قناعات المجتمع المدني على سبيل المثال، فإننا سوف نرى “ذهنية” تلقائية تبرز في النسيج الإجتماعي لا تناقش أصلاً مبدأ “احترام القانون”، ولكنها تتناقش حول محتوى مواد القانون وامكانية تنقيحها. فالمبدأ يبدو واضحاً جداً ضمن قناعات المجتمع، فمخالفة القانون أو التحايل عليه هو أمر غير قابل للبروز في هذه المجتمعات كظاهرة تتبناها شرائح متعددة ضمن المجتمع، ولكن التباين أو حتى الصراع يكون ظاهراً فقط في الخلاف الطبيعي حول “المحتوى” أو “المضمون” القابل للتغيير أو التنقيح. وكذلك، في تلك المجتمعات، فإن مفهوم “المواطنة” على سبيل المثال غير قابل للتقسيمات العرقية أو المذهبية أو الدينية لأن “الذهنية” هناك للمجموع العام سوف تتهم من يتبنى تلك التقسيمات بـ “العنصرية” أو “التمييز” العرقي أو الديني.ويقف على النقيض من تلك الأمم مجتمعات أخرى نرى فيها بروز “ذهنية” لا تعكس حتى الشعارات التي تتبناها، أو على الأصح تقتبسها اقتباساً من الأمم الأخرى من دون “فهم” دقيق لمحتواها، وبالتالي تبرز حالة التناقض بين الواقع والشعارات المرفوعة في كل مظاهر التصرفات أو النتائج.
“الذهنية” هي نتاج لتفاعل عدة عوامل تعمل على مستوى القناعات وربما الأوهام، منها ما هو ثقافي، ومنها ما هو عقائدي، ومنها ما هو اجتماعي أو شخصي أو حتي نفسي، ومنها ما هو نتاج للدافعين الإنسانيين الأزليين (الخوف والمصلحة الذاتية). هذه العوامل المتعددة تكون فاعلة دائماً لخلق “الذهنية” البارزة في التعامل مع القضايا المطروحة. وهذه الذهنية لا تبرز كإشكالية تستحق النظر والدراسة، وربما العلاج، إلا إذا أصبحت “ظاهرة” يتبناها قطاع ذو ثقل عددي ضمن المجتمع. ويكمن مدى أهمية فهم الذهنية الفاعلة في المجتمع وتشخيصها في حقيقة أن “الذهنية” الفاعلة هي المسؤولة دائماً عن الحالة الراهنة للمجتمع. فكل مجتمع تبرز فيه المبادئ المدنية بشكل واضح ومعها مظاهر التحضّر بأشكالها المتعددة، ما هو على الحقيقة إلا نتاج لذهنية هذا المجتمع. وكل مجتمع، كالحالة الكويتية، تبرز فيه “مظاهر” (وليس مبادئ) المدنية مع اغفال واضح وجلي لمظاهر التحضر، ما هو على الحقيقة إلا نتاج لذهنية هذا المجتمع.
الذهنية تتبدى دائماً في التفاعل التلقائي مع القضايا المطروحة. فعلى سبيل المثال، في الذهنية الكويتية هناك استعداد تلقائي لـ “تخوين” الآخر الذي يقف على الخلاف في القناعات. فنرى مثلاً أن الحرب الوحشية السادية على قطاع غزة من جانب الكيان الصهيوني والذي نتج عنه قتلى من الأطفال والنساء والشيوخ تبنى رفضه واستنكاره قطاع محدد من الشعب الكويتي. المسألة للكثير من هؤلاء الرافضين كانت تنطلق من موقف “حضاري” بحت لا يبيح القتل لغير المحاربين ولا يرضى باستهداف المدنيين والأبرياء. ولكن عندما قرر المخالفين لوجهة نظرهم هذه الإعتراض عليهم ومخالفتهم، برزت فكرة “التخوين” في خطابهم لهؤلاء بشكل واضح على اعتبار أن الموقف الفلسطيني في الغزو العراقي الغاشم على دولة الكويت كان مسانداً للديكتاتور العراقي صدام حسين. ولكن الذهنية التي تتبنى “التخوين” برزت بشكل واضح وأكثر بروزاً في قضية تأبين المشتبه به في حادثة اختطاف الطائرة الكويتية عماد مغنية. ففي هذه الحادثة بالذات برز الخطاب السني – الشيعي الذي يُلمّح أحياناً، ويُصرّح أحياناً أخرى، بتخوين النسيج الإجتماعي الشيعي كله وبلا استثناء. وعلى الطرف المقابل برزت قضية الانتخابات الفرعية وازدواجية الجنسية كفرصة مناسبة جداً لـ “تخوين” القبائل والأفراد ذوي الأصول البدوية. فالذهنية الكويتية تملك استعداداً تلقائياً لـ “تخوين” المخالف لهم وعلى اعتبارات أو محاور عدة.
ذهنية التخوين هذه برزت أيضاً في قضية الموقف من اقامة ندوة “التدوين في الكويت“. فبشكل تلقائي جداً، وبرحابة صدر منقطعة النظير، تبنى قطاعاً محدداً من المدونين الكويتيين الرافضين لإقامة الندوة موقفاً يتلخص في أن الهدف الحقيقي من هذه الندوة هو تعاون من نوع ما حدث بين “أمن الدولة” كجهاز أمني والمنظمين لهذه الندوة بهدف كشف هوية المدونين الحقيقية الذين سوف يتواجدون في الندوة. ومن جهة أخرى تبنى البعض الآخر أن الهدف من الندوة هو الرغبة في تكوين مصالح تجارية (!) أو رغبة في الحصول على واجهة اجتماعية (!) أو أنها احدى تكتيكات الشباب المراهق كالذين يتواجدون في المجمعات التجارية في الكويت لإقامة علاقات من نوع ما مع الجنس الآخر (!!!!!). ومع احترامي لكل من يتبنى مثل هذه الآراء، ومع وضوح “سذاجتها” المتناهية على أكثر من محور لكل من يقف قليلاً ليتفكر فيها ومدى جديتها وواقعيتها، إلا أن ما يلفت النظر هو ذلك التباين بين الشعارات المرفوعة في تلك المدونات حول قضايا متعددة سياسية أو اجتماعية وبين “الذهنية” التي تعاملت بواسطتها مع قضية تباينت فيها القناعات. فالموقف المبدئي كان يجب أن يكون، وبكل بساطة، هو قبول الخلاف في القناعات مع تشجيع الحوار والمناقشة حول الأهداف والنتائج. هكذا وبكل وبساطة. من شاء أن يكشف من المدونين هويته الحقيقية للمجتمع فليفعل ذلك، ومن شاء أن يبقى مجهول الهوية للمجتمع فليبقى كذلك. فالمبدأ كان يجب أن يكون “حرية الإختيار”، هذا مع الخلاف على التفاصيل والأهداف والنتائج. ولكن الأمر مع “ذهنية التخوين” هذه، والتي هي في الحقيقة انعكاس مباشر لذهنية المجتمع الكويتي نفسه، أبى إلا أن يصور الأمر وكأنه لا يحتمل إلا معسكرين، معكسر عملاء أمن الدولة وأصحاب المصالح التجارية والنفاق الاجتماعي ومراهقي علاقات الطرف الآخر، ومعسكر الوطنيين الذين تهمهم “سرية” هويتهم حتى “ينتقدوا”(!!!) الفساد في الكويت. بالطبع “وهــم” سرية الهوية هو غير موجود إلا في أذهانهم، وبعضهم يعرف هذه الحقيقة بلا شك، ولكن اختيارهم لمنطق “التخوين” بالذات هو أمر بلا شك ما هو إلا انعكاس لإشكالية أكبر على مستوى المجتمع ذاته. وهو أمر جدير أيضاً بالملاحظة لأن من يبدو ظاهرياً كمعسكر ينادي بالإصلاح هو أيضاً غير منفصل تماماً عن أحد مظاهر الحالة الراهنة للمجتمع الكويتي، أو على الأقل هو غير واع لها.

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 28: Eight Kuwaitis have filed complaints with the Al-Shaab Police Station accusing a compatriot and his Arab wife of cheating them, reports Al-Rai daily. The complainants said they bought apartments overlooking the sea from the compatriot and the wife received money on behalf of the husband. The complainants said each of them paid KD 100,000 in advance upon receipts and contracts only to discover the apartments have been sold to other people. The daily did not say in which country the complainants purchased the apartments.

We meet with reps from Adlib, and i am in charge of this lajna, since i presented it and came up with it and have background as a Museum employee and restorer at the conservation department.
Basically, i want to know everything about an artifact, be it a peice of 7,000 year old ceramic pot, or a 1960's dishdaasha. I want to know who made it, its dimensions, its condition, where its being stored, what environment it should be in, etc. Basically, i am a mother at a big wedding asking everyone i know who that girl dancing is. After all, only the best will do for my son, no?

The fabulous singer/entertainer really knows how to express herself with fashion and captivate her audience with her looks. Have we ever seen the star in anything that wasn’t avant-garde, impulsive, or striking? Nope and that’s why we (especially I) love her!
In a recent photo shoot the star donned a gorgeous sequin one-sleeved with a ruffled neckline Balmain mini dress. I bet if it was up to GaGa she would have paired the cobalt blue piece with some sort of eccentric headpiece or funky glasses to make it a signature look … I still think she rocked it without the extra effort. I absolutely adore this color on her!

When traveling, I take shopping as a mission that needs to be accomplished with perfection (yes, THAT bad!). I had already planned my shopping routes weeks in advance. I had 4 sectors to cover: Midtown, Upper East Side, Soho, and Meatpacking District. Armed with my 4 Cs: cash, cards, converse, and comfy clothes, I started with 5th avenue as it was a few blocks away from the hotel. My first stop was Bergdorf Goodman, the window displays had "An Extreme Beauty in Vogue" theme/gallery. Needless to say that the displays were breathtaking. Bergdrof is definitely my all time favorite 2nd place to shop in NYC (1st is Barneys). Almost all of my favorite brands under one roof, it doesn't get any better than that. Especially if you don't have time to visit every designer's boutique. Plus I believe they have the best selection of beauty products, jewels, and accessories. Let's take a look at the dramatic window displays of BG.

Over the years I have gotten used to Heathrow Terminal 4, I even look forward to it when traveling, the food counter, and the location of the shops. Now with Terminal 5 things have really changed, even when checking in its different and when going to the lounges of British Airways its very confusing as to where exactly you have to go. Security is better since there are a lot of terminals for people to go through but they do have a lot of flights taking off at any one point in time. I haven’t been using British Airways much since I haven’t been going to London for a while now, mostly on Emirates or Lufthansa since both airlines are cheaper then British Airways. After getting done with security I went to the Club Lounge to drop off one of the bags I was carrying and only carry my back pack.
One thing I’m happy about is that the electronics store, book store, magazine shop, and music store are really close to each other. I didn’t have a chance to walk as much as I wanted since I was pretty tired and I just wanted to sit in the lounge, and the lounges are all a bit intertwined, not that you can use the other lounges but the other lounges can see each other. There is a Concorde Lounge which is the flagship lounge, the First Class Lounge, and the Business Class Lounge, but I’m not sure I missed one of the lounges since its a bit confusing the first time around. When I came to look for my terminal to take off to Kuwait I almost missed since they don’t announce flights in the lounge any more for some reason and it was very far, I really had no clue where I was going. Overall the terminal is nice but a too big, I still want to explore when I have the chance and the energy to walk around, but it does feel nice and spacious when walking around and now I have to look for a new food place to try out in the terminal.

Kuwaiti women played key role in liberating nation: Maasouma
GENEVA, Sept 29, (KUNA): Member of National Assembly of Kuwait Dr. Masouma AI-Mubarak said that during Iraqi Invasion of Kuwait in 1990, and the Liberation War in 1991 the Kuwaiti women played a major role in liberating their country. Addressing the International Parliamentary Union (IPU) conference in Geneva, she stressed that the Kuwaiti women put up a remarkable resistance against occupation and struggled in every front for the safety of their country.
“It is a fact that no society can prosper when women do not contribute to its progress. It is a fact also, that we hold only a very small percentage of public offices, very few women are involved in politics and even fewer run for elected offices,” Dr. Al-Mubarak said. In her speech, “The Role of Women: Expectations and Challenges,”
Al-Mubarak said that the Kuwait Constitution does not discriminate between women and men with respect to their citizenship rights, but social customs. “Women make up more than 50 percent of the Kuwaiti population. They compose 24.5 percent of the country’s total workforce, and more than 40 percent of the Kuwaiti workforce, and about 70 percent of students at university level. More than 85 percent of the honor graduates are women,” she said. And added that Kuwaiti women hold prominent positions. However, Dr. Al-Mubarak said that one of the first obstacles faced as the first female MP was in running for in-house elections. “Another experience was in the election of the Parliamentarian committee for Women’s Affairs; all four female MPs won, in addition to three male MPs,” she said.
She explained that historically, this committee was not on the radar screen of Parliament “it only succeeeded in becoming so after the granting of women’s political rights in May 2005 where female voters became an attractive asset to those running for elections.
“One of our first decisions upon being elected into the committee was to suggest an amendment to the bylaws of the Parliament to include this committee among the roster of permanent parliamentarian committees thus cementing its importance to the nation,” said Al-Mubarak. Al-Mubarak explained that the committee is currently studying two proposals for social and civil women’s rights, and several proposals to amend discriminatory articles in several laws as: the Public Housing Law, the Civil Service Law, the Passport Law, the Labor Law, the Social Security Law, and the Immigration Law which affects the stability of families comprised of Kuwaiti wives married to non-Kuwaiti husbands.
She added that the committee also succeeded in putting women’s issues on the priority list of the Parliament which is comprised of 23 priorities for the upcoming session starting on October 27, 2009.
“The Five-Year Development Plan of Kuwait has allocated an entire program to support and develop the role of women in society and to incorporate them in the workforce, by training 19,416 women during the current Plan,” said Dr. Al-Mubarak. She stressed that until women are fully represented in local, national and international decision making bodies, their issues will not be priorities and the necessary resources will not be allocated.

I’m the type of person that really hates the smell of cigarette smoke, I detest it, I’m the guy that enforces non-smoking at work and at home and if friends are over. Sheesha is just a whole other category, and the producers of the tobacco out of Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Saudi, and Kuwait are not regulated for any healthy regulations at all such as cigarette manufacturing companies, not that those are better either. Sheesha is a whole different matter all together, the smell of a sheesha makes my stomach turn, the stench at those cafe’s makes me dizzy.
There is very little research about the effects of sheesha on one’s lungs but now BBC has published some interesting information about Sheesha being more damaging to people then heavy smokers of cigarettes. High levels of carbon monoxide can lead to brain damage and unconsciousness, and that results from cigarettes and sheesha but with sheesha its a lot higher concentration from one session. People have this misconception that its safer since its being filter through the water but that isn’t really the case. Strangely these days there are more and more women smoking sheesha then before, for Lebanese, Egyptian, and Syrian women its more a norm but lately in the Gulf you see more women smoking then before which is surprising. This is even happening in Western Cities such as London, New York, Los Angles, San Francisco, San Diego, and Miami, all these new Sheesha/Hookah bars popping up all over the place even with the smoking bans in place, permits can be acquired. It isn’t nice seeing a girl smoke a sheesha, and for me seeing a girl smoke a cigarette is a huge turn off, there breath would stink afterward, and a lot of guys have the same opinion, pretty much anyone who smokes and has that smoker’s breath is disgusting, and covering it up with perfume just isn’t really working.
