i was surprised when i read that BADER AL MUTAWA was going to lead our OLYMPIC TEAM....
according to the OLYMPIC'S rules, all the team has to be under 23 years except 3 players ... BADER qulaifies for that he is 21 .... but the funny thing is that it seems that we dont have any other player... the AL FAHAD dynasty drove away most of our good players, people like jassem al huwaydi, bashar abdulla, abdulla wabran, bader hajji, hussain al 5u'6erii, fawaz bi5eet .....

now u might say tht these people are too old ... but they are not, we all know the story with jassem alhuwaydi, now bader hajji, retired two weeks before the 16th gulf cup in kuwait, which ment he would have liked to play in his own country, but they did not want him ... abdulla wabran did not mind playing last year but he was removed when that coach left.... the truth is all these people can play and are ready to play but the people who have taken hold of the football dont want them; they want little boys who they can order around most of which are playing through was6a............

now there are some good players in the team right now, bader al mutawa , and ya3goub 6aher ... ...
now poor bader al mutawa, he plays for al qadsiya, kuwait national team, and now the olympic team ...

until we fis the sporting world properly we need talent scouts , that go to high schools, to friendly matches in the FIREEJ looking for potential players, so we dont need one player to play in three teams

Oh how life had burdened me with the so called gift of love..

At the beginning, life has taught us that there are people we are born to love. Such as the loving mother, the responsible father, the caring sister, the strong brother, and the wise friend.

New direction

Well it's finally happened I've found a job, I can just pray that it's better than the last one I had!

In this time I've been out of work I have spent a lot of it exploring my self. Who I was, what is my essence and all that. I have found a base of something new someone in me that I never new before, it's like part of who I really am is being brought to light. I don't know how to explain it, but that's what I feel.

I know this might sound crazy for some but I think the reason I was so down lately was because a part of me was dying, a part whose time had passed and was no longer needed to me but I was refusing to let it go, this was most likely the reason I was feeling so bad but as time went on I slowly started to let go. And just as I was at my worst deep in my thoughts, something began to stir in me something different, it was then that I realized that a new point in my life had begun.

Now is the time to walk life better then the day before (at least until the new person is challenged again) at which point I'm sure something even better will shine though.

When I look back at this last year all I can say is thank you God for sending me this sorrow this depression for with out it I would have never grown to where I am now, and forgive me when in the future you give me another opportunity to grow and I complain about it.

It was a tough day, today. I had an exam for which I hadn't studied well during the weekend, and 2 homework papers due which I saved for the last moment, so I hadn't had enough sleep. After classes were over, I met up with a guy over lunch. It's his first year here so he'd ask a lot about how things go around here, study- and life-wise. At one point of the conversation, it hit me that suddenly

Wow, that must have SUCKED!!

At 2:30 A.M, not to long ago, I had the intention of bringing back my Blog back from the dead. This is probably due that I haven't touched my Blog since last summer. (Hmm, yep) That sure was pretty long time. So I thought to myself as I was rolling up my sleeves "Ok, I think it's time for me to get back on track and fix my Blog". Just when I opened up my backup hard disk, the first thing that I heard was a sound of clicks coming from my computer. I thought to myself "Wait a minute; my computer has never made such funny noises." And then it just hit me like a hard brick. The sound of clicks was not coming from my computer but it was coming from my backup hard disk.

My eyes shot wide open. I immediately knew that all my hard work and effort that I have done over the year is about to fade away into the emptiness of space in my corrupted hard disk. All of my PSP ISO's, CD images, movies, TV shows and a whole lot of stuff that are worth over 100 GB has faded away. Now doesn't that just suck!!!

Previously, I was faced with similar situation, however this time I took drastic measures in having a backup hard disk (just in case of an emergency). But who knew that my own backup hard disk would just suddenly mess up in the middle of the process. Right now I don't know what to do but to take a deep breath and shout out loud, "FUCK!"

I took a moment to think about the whole issue and finally came to a conclusion. As I was dusting off my hands I said to myself, "Well... Shit happens, better be ready next time. "

ماذا فعلنا للكويت وللكويتين

Well here is the most important highlights in my life since the beginning of 2007:

- Quit my Job.
- Done my pilgrim ( Haj )
- Had a nice vacation with family in a sunny beachy place ;)
- Still single ( one potential standing )
- Had a blind date on valentine for the 1st time in my life - both blind and a date on valentine - .
- Got a training offer that will start soon.
- Took off my braces.
- Watching Lost and Heroes.
- Spent alot of money on Restaurants, Clothing, Shopping, Spa and Body Care, etc etc..
- Watched 3 very good movies that i highly recommend ( Blood Diamond, The Pursuit of Happyness and The Prestige ).
- Ate alot of Fagi3 this year more than any other year - yumm yumm - which i can't get enough of.
emmm what else? Guess since i quit my job i didn't get bored at all, I spent alot of time with friends and family with no previous plans.

I know its national day and liberation day and all that and maybe its just my PMS talking, but I really don't think we have any reason to celebrate. Let's exclude the fact that our region is in a depressing state of turmoil, the likes of which I have not seen in my 24 years of life, but on a more local scale... should we really be celebrating our country? Is our country so great that it deserves mass celebrations?

The government and National Assembly are in a constant tete-a-tete about a myriad of non-issues (read: canceling loans), the government has no idea how to spend our oil surplus and the country is basically run by a troupe of hypocrites.

I wrote about this a few years ago. Its like the government has no idea how to deal with the real issues plaguing its citizens (like, increasing traffic violations, rampant drug abuse, undisciplined youth, inadequate infrastructure.. etc. ) and so their solution is to sweep those issues under the rug and focus on stupid things like the aforementioned loans and whether or not letting Nancy Ajram have a concert here would lead to a free fall in Kuwaiti morality (because God forbid our values should decline...)

it makes me sick to see these idiot hanging out of their cars, spraying silly string on passing vehicles and generally acting like a bunch of two year olds when there's chaos in Iraq, nuclear possibilities between Iran and Bush, global warming, turmoil in Lebanon and basically a looming apocalypse... and all our citizens can think about is " Sharq or Marina Mall?", "Bahrain or Dubai?" ...

its sickening... it truly is. This world is gonna go to shit and we'll still be out shopping for the latest LV bag...

I heard lots of stories of skin heads and their deadly attacks on foreign students in St. Petersburg. Therefore I decided in first few months to stay home and not go out much until I get used to the area and know where and where not to go. I found this inactive organization called "International Students Association" located in St. Petersburg. Their news and messages on the website make me regret why I came to Russia in first place. It didn't seem to be a safe place at all. Then I decided to sent email to the group and ask for tips how to stay safe in Russia!

Here are some replies I received from members:

How are you?? I was shocked to see a girl from Kuwait to study in Russia for a start. Why did you choose this bloody space to study??? I think we have got lot more better places on this earth... Well God save you in Russia

"For skin-heads... first of all I would recommend to NEVER go out to discos or pubs without having a couple of Russian guys with you. This might help." --- a tip by a Russian.

"It's a pity that no one can actually pick point and tell how these people look like except that they normally wear black and boots and have skin head and where they hand out .They actually come in different forms and shape to suit. Sometimes it is just bitter people who think that there poverty /uncertainty in life is due to foreign students living in the country and they are of course easier targets. My main advice would be if you can afford to study elsewhere, in any other European country ( EU) you should start to consider that .If not you just have to always be with a group of at least 6, and never work on your own"

If you're carrying cash on you, keep it well guarded but don't forget to keep some small denominations in easy access areas (jacket pockets etc.) so that you can hand it out if someone comes to loot you. Always keep this phone no. stored in your cell phone/diary: 3401020. This is the direct 24/7 line to the emergency dispatch service."

"About them attacking solo or in groups. That varies a lot. Most of the assailants are hooligans on coke and booze. He/they'll attack anyone out alone on the streets late (be it locals/foreigners) looking for money, or just for the heck of beating people up. Some are however, truly neo-Nazis. Their beliefs are very extreme and they seek out dark-skinned/haired individuals out and wreak havoc, never mind your age/gender. (You must've already heard of their atrocities).

The areas they frequent can be any and every region in the city. But the closer a region is to the centre (Nevsky, Petrogradskaya etc.) the relatively "safer" it is. If there's a police station/post near your area, or frequent patrol cars, it's good, but in no way means that you may be free to go out anytime. Places where a lot of cultured and civilized people frequent (theatres, good clubs etc.) are your safest bet, provided you have safe to and fro transport. Still these are in no way cent percent safe.

Last of all, an estimate (by the local authorities) says that an average of 15 people is murdered on the streets of St.Petersburg every month. What does that say about racism? Just that even if racism is an evil we must be very very aware of, there are a lot of other factors (hooligans, thugs) that make the streets unsafe. This is a metropolitan city, and if you don't take proper precautions, you're bound to get attacked, never mind your race."

Every time I came to take a bite, I would get a whiff of a something that smells like masculine cologne; the expensive kind that men would wear for theirdishdashas during Eid?

"My burger smells good!", I exclaimed.
"Yes 3baid, that's what food smells like when you're hungry", one of them says.
"No no! I mean really good, like perfume -it's weird --wait it's gone!"

I started to sniff around trying to locate (or at least identify) the scent as my friends gaze and laugh at me like I'm a lunatic. "It's weird; I only smell it when I take a bite...", I concluded, the point at which my friend stop eating, drop and laugh hysterically. I decided to pass the burger around to try to make sense of it all, but they couldn't smell anything odd. What could it be? Was it the pickles? Maybe the place I happened to be sitting at? Nope.

"Oh never mind". I was too hungry to bother so I carried on eating away.

With just a small piece left of my burger, I thought I'd give it one last shot for the sake of curiosity. I was the only person who was able to detect the strange scent after all, right?

My eyes lit up as I discovered that the source of that strong aroma came from none other my hands. The secret was behind the liquid soap that I had used earlier during the day! How could I have not known that?!

More laughing fits emanate shortly after.

Just saw Rocky Balboa in the cinema. The truth is I didn't expect something THAT big to happen. Many people told me the movie wasn't worth watching even at home by buying a DVD. However, what I can say is that this was not the best movie for Rocky. The best ever was Rocky 4, without thinking twice.

Should you see it ? Well if you are a true fan of Rocky / Sylvester Stallone than you should see it, otherwise don't. Not much has been cut in the cinema from the movie so its alright to see it in the cinema. Overall, a 3.5/5 for the movie. Could have been done better. Had the potential to. Just think it was a bit rushed.

Here's how that guy, some of you might know him, who was very fat and got thin just by eating from Subway.

Didn't know this but Tony Blair turns out to be a true fan of Newcastle United. And that's my favourite team. Now I respect Tony alot. I couldn't find a better picture than this, but there are many proofs that he's a fan other than him saying that he is, in the movie The Queen, an actor who plays Tony Blair wears the classic Newcastle Home shirt.

New York Friend Jessica has weird things happen to her a lot. Whether it’s being accosted on a pedi-cab by a Jesus lover or getting to be a VIP doorwoman at a celebrity party, Jessica is fond of looking to the heavens, rolling her eyes and exclaiming loudly “How is this my life?”

I was always amused by these stranger-than-life stories, the ones that you couldn’t even made up if you tried. I never thought I would have those kinds of experiences until I myself moved to a big city. Then, I moved to Kuwait.

I’m not sure if it was the sudden change in climate or if it was the 11 hour time difference. All I know is, I was driving home from a friends house when a cop pulled me over because my “lights were too bright”. As he wrote me a ticket, I saw about five cars drive by with no lights on at 9:30 p.m., all going about 120 kph (75mph). I cursed at the heavens, and wondered how, exactly, this was my life.

The other day, I was coming back from lunch with some coworkers. I work in the middle of nowhere, practically the ghetto. Farm-land ghetto, not East-Compton style ghetto, mind you. As we drove back, we noticed an orange cab in front of us.

For those of you not familiar with the Kuwaiti cab system, the orange cabs are the worst in Kuwait. They’re practically falling apart and, well, they just look dirty. This cab was no exception. But there was one unusual thing about it. In the backseat of this cab was a sheep.

As in the animal.

Just the animal. And the driver.

A sheep.

Uno sheep.

One sheep.

The sheep was just hanging out in the backseat of the cab, as if it were a Golden Retriever hanging out in the backseat of a station wagon driven by a soccer mom. As we passed by, it blinked at us, completely unfazed.

After getting over the initial shock, we all started wondering how, exactly the sheep got back there. Was it just hanging out by the side of the road and suddenly thought, “Dude, I am so over this joint. I want to go somewhere fun. Dubai! Where’s a cab?” Did someone ask the cab driver to take the sheep somewhere as a favour? Why a CAB? Are there no pick-up trucks that could be borrowed? Is it the cab driver’s sheep? Is the sheep being taken to slaughter? If so, is it aware of its fate? Is it being dropped off at the airport to be put on a flight to Egypt where it will meet its new Egyptian husband?

Had we not been on our way back to work, I would have insisted that we follow the cab, so we could find out what the story was. I mean, a sheep. In the backseat of a cab.

How is this my life?

You go, Georgy!! Flood them out with more troops. Kill ALL the Iraqis and your problems will ALL be gone, along with the remains of what used to be a semi-functional brain that won you the elections TWICE somehow!


British media reported that British Prime Minister Tony Blair was set to announce on Wednesday that Britain would start to withdraw its 7,100 troops from Iraq within weeks. Blair was expected to say the withdrawal reflected Britain's success in southern Iraq, where control of security is being handed back to Iraqi forces, the media reports said.

NOW that's a lie worth telling!! Whatever it takes to get you outta there! Maybe the Americans should give such strategy a shot! (Hmm.. that sounded ludicrously redundant, didn't it? lol)

LONDON - Britain will withdraw around 1,600 troops from Iraq in the coming months and aims to further cut its 7,100-strong contingent by late summer if Iraqi forces can secure the country's south, Prime Minister Tony Blair said Wednesday.

LONDON - Prince Harry, third in line to the British throne, is getting his wish to serve in Iraq. The Ministry of Defense ended speculation that had been swirling for about a week by announcing Thursday the 22-year-old prince will be sent to Iraq with his Blues and Royals regiment in May or June. Harry, a second lieutenant, will assume a troop commander's role.

I am a huge mystery to myself. Not one of those cute little puzzles you pick up at the toy store either. I often feel like a frustrated convoluted maze, its hedges overgrown and its pathways lost in shadow.

Honesty, now that’s an interesting concept. How can you be honest when you don’t know where the truth lies? Sometimes I feel every aspect of me is deceitful, even those I present to my self. Honesty, who looks into themselves and sees the humanity within? And I’m not talking about the sweet giving humanitarian side. Humanity, the dark ugly messy kind, the steaming pile of entrails kind. The pettiness, the suspicion, the envy. I lay myself open and gingerly toe my psyche and think, ‘I am not a good person’. I don’t think I’m Evil, not the horns and forked tail mysterious super villain kind of evil, but I’m not good either. I’m incredibly, depressingly infinitesimal. I am an infinitely immeasurably small person. And that makes me sad.

In other news I’m back in school and rubbing shoulders with all those eager shiny faced peers I left behind a few months ago. It can grate on one’s nerves a bit. Also I just had a birthday which always makes things look particularly overcast.

Feb 25th and 26th are the National Day/Liberation day holidays for Kuwait. Last year, the celebrations were cancelled due to the passing of the Amir of Kuwait.
This year, all the buildings are lit up with the colors of Kuwait flag and it looks like it's going to be one heck of a party. Too bad I am going to miss it, as I am travelling to India for a short break.
